RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - rpmendez - 01-18-2020 08:20 AM I just wanted to say that even though I signed up, I will not be participating this year. I am not physically capable of riding 8-9 hours round trip in 1 day so I could only accumulate 6 points. I sincerely hope next years tour has more obtainable targets. I really love doing these tours and I'm going to miss doing this years. Good luck everyone! Have a great time and ride safe! RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Willie - 01-22-2020 01:10 PM Delaware does not seem to sign their Scenic Byways. In looking at Nanticoke Heritage Byway which runs from Seaford to Trap Pond State Park via US 13. At the Delaware site they mention various places to visit such as Woodland Ferry. Would a picture of this location work ??? RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - xander84 - 01-22-2020 01:27 PM (01-22-2020 01:10 PM)Willie Wrote: Delaware does not seem to sign their Scenic Byways. Would a picture of this location work ??? If there are no byway signs then as long there is an effort shown with pictures to document that you and your bike were on the qualifying road, then you should be good. Also remember it's OK to use more than one picture to define the road being claimed for a point. RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - MDTurley - 01-28-2020 07:39 PM Wow... I like this byway idea... maybe I stand a chance this time... I'll be in Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Idaho, Utah locally then a trip to Nova Scotia in June... see y'all on the road again RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - StarWolve - 01-29-2020 10:47 AM (12-16-2019 01:23 PM)xander84 Wrote:(12-16-2019 12:06 PM)Cruzin Wrote: The Mississippi River Road runs through multiple states and the signs in each state specify what state it is. Can that be used in more than one state? Question on this - If there's no state name in it (such as the Blue Ridge Parkway, that runs through NC and VA) but you can prove an intersection in both states, is it two points or just one? I have this crazy idea of running the entire BRP in a single day, from South to North. It's possible, but going to be a haul. A little under 500 miles with a 45 mph speed limit, and way too many tourists. It will have to be a weekday to avoid the traffic. RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - ajayhawkfan - 02-06-2020 02:24 PM When will the Rally Placard be emailed? Would like to get as many people signed up to send out a single email blast and should give everyone enough time to get their respective placard printed. RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - xander84 - 02-22-2020 08:01 AM I just emailed out the link to this years placards. RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - DABrisson - 02-29-2020 12:19 AM This evening I tried to register for the GT. Norton flagged the site as dangerous. Suggestions? RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Lapchik - 02-29-2020 10:08 AM On chrome I have the option to continue anyway, a clickable link below that warning RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - xander84 - 02-29-2020 12:06 PM (02-29-2020 12:19 AM)DABrisson Wrote: This evening I tried to register for the GT. Norton flagged the site as dangerous. Suggestions? Not sure, you'd need to ask the Ridemaster website owner. I would think there should be an option in any antivirus to white-flag a website or domain as trusted. RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - LSGiant - 03-02-2020 11:28 AM I just registered today Windows 10 no flags and it is a safe site. Anytime you click a link from an email it is a risk and some systems will warn you. If you are uncomfortable use the snail mail system. It is very challenging these days for protections systems to know what is safe and what is not. RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Sioux Falls - 03-08-2020 06:20 PM Now you really have me confused. Am I to assume that Historical Markers will count as a "overlook" as long as it has a dedicated pulloff? RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - xander84 - 03-09-2020 08:31 AM (03-08-2020 06:20 PM)Sioux Falls Wrote: Now you really have me confused. Am I to assume that Historical Markers will count as a "overlook" as long as it has a dedicated pulloff? From the rules sheet: Two scenic overlooks are allowed per state. The signage must be the descriptive sign at the pull-off site, the brown/green “scenic overlook ahead” signs that are along the road do not count. Any scenic, historic, or interpretive roadside pull-off is acceptable, almost all of these have some sort of land-marker describing the location. As long as it is a dedicated pull-off area with a descriptive landmarker, then it counts. RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - xander84 - 03-26-2020 07:40 AM Glacial Lakes Motorcycle Club regrets to inform everyone, that amid the current COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Grand Tour will be postponed indefinitely. The plan going forward will be to reissue new rider flags and resume the current 2020 Scenic Roads tour at a later date and then continue it through until next year, October of 2021. Those who have already started the tour will be able to submit their claimed locations, but we ask that all riders put their GT riding on hold until further notice. RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Lapchik - 03-26-2020 02:04 PM Winter gts? That actually sounds fun! RE: 2020 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - DABrisson - 03-26-2020 07:06 PM This has me a little confused: "Those who have already started the tour will be able to submit their claimed locations, but we ask that all riders put their GT riding on hold until further notice." When the GT restarts, will it be a new theme, rules, and season? I've got a few on this one, are you saying I can submit them now or wait for the restart? I hope the scenic roads/outlooks will continue, this looked like a lot of fun this year, not to mention I have a cross country trip planned for later this spring that would have been rich with points. We decided to continue the same tour through next year, not knowing when it will start up again. The only thing that will change is the placards, to differentiate them from pre-postponement. I'll edit the post. Thanks, |
