There is a memorial located at the International Peace Gardens on the US/Canada border in North Dakota.

Remember what happened last time the "East Coast" had a ton of GT's?? Angel

The 9/11 theme would take you to a lot of cool places and read stories about amazing people that lost their lives that day. I need an excuse to ride more so I don't end up like Cruzin being sore after a couple hundreds miles. Tongue

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - StarWolve - 10-11-2021 12:48 PM

I like the "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" idea.

Airports, Train Stations, and Car/motorcycle... museums? Seems like dealerships would be too easy.

I also suggest the "Tour of Duty" every year. American Legions, VFW's, etc. 1 point for the location, and an extra point if they have some type of military equipment outside (cannons, tanks, helicopters, etc.)

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - Lapchik - 10-12-2021 08:39 AM

I really like the tour of duty theme too. There is what I think is an M24 tank outside the VFW here in Alexandria.

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - LSGiant - 10-12-2021 10:20 AM

Why would we do the same thing as Tour of Duty ?

Would be the same as doing the same thing as Team Strange ?

I am not in favor of doing duplicates with other groups.

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - Lapchik - 10-12-2021 01:49 PM

Was not aware they had done that. It's no longer on their site so it must have been some time ago.

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - LSGiant - 10-12-2021 08:40 PM

I guess maybe I am misunderstanding. I thought Starwolve was suggesting we include the Tour of Honor sites as part of our Grand Tour. If so that is what I am not in favor of.

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - Lapchik - 10-13-2021 02:37 PM

I have no idea what Tour of Duty/Honor is, relating to any motorcycle group event in the Midwest. If Team Strange did it, it must have been long ago. I checked their site for what they had done previously so I didn't repeat anything.

Guessing it's this.

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - Lapchik - 10-13-2021 04:24 PM

Ooooooh ok. Similar but different than what StarWolve was describing.

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - Sioux Falls - 10-14-2021 02:54 PM

How about something different like this? Everyone have heard the song "I've Been Everywhere". How about a tour where you visit the towns/states listed in the song. I just down loaded the names, and there are 90 towns/states in the song. I'm sure there are numerous towns in the song that are in more than one state. You would need to take a picture to prove the state(post office, etc), but it should be very easy to do.

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - Lapchik - 10-14-2021 03:54 PM

Team Strange did that not long ago. Not something we will copy.

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - Lapchik - 10-19-2021 11:25 AM

Theme will be announced at the banquet, and then the next morning on this forum.

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - kperson - 10-21-2021 12:52 AM

Well it wasn't SUPER recent...

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - Don Q - 10-28-2021 06:33 AM

All general bonuses are found in GLMC towns only? No Sauk Centre airport, Viking Speedway Alexandria, or Amtrak station in Red Wing?

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - Lapchik - 10-28-2021 08:45 AM

Correct. Glenwood airport would be 1 point since it starts with G, Sauk Center airport would be 0 as it starts with S.

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - 239 - 12-04-2021 07:53 PM

i hope no one runs into the issues we had a few years ago trying to get riders to take photos of airport signs- let's just say Homeland Security had a chat with some folks

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - Lapchik - 12-15-2021 01:32 PM

Maybe if you're trying to take pictures of the terminal at a major international airport. I highly doubt anything at all will happen at small town USA airport.

RE: 2022 Grand Tour - Willie - 01-03-2022 10:08 AM

Any more news on the 2022 Grand Tour. I see Ride Master has Planes, Trains and Automobiles listed. Any Specifics yet?

The reason I'm asking: I think it would be of interest to everyone if the participants of the challenge started their own thread were they could post pictures while doing the ride challenge. I believe it would also make it easier to score for the rally master.

Those that can't post pictures or chose not too could sent in the results as they have in the past.

I could help with this if GLMC would like. Not sure how many images the scorers end up having to process for GLMC, but I built the scoring portal that Tour of Honor will be using this year (which is expected to process 60k submissions over the course of their 7 month rally).
