RE: Dual Sport Event (Glenwood, MN) - Lapchik - 05-09-2023 11:06 AM Yes, just not very good ones. ![]() RE: Dual Sport Event (Glenwood, MN) - Lapchik - 05-09-2023 11:07 AM I could do it the Monday of Memorial day, otherwise it will have to be later in the year. RE: Dual Sport Event (Glenwood, MN) - Lapchik - 05-10-2023 03:19 PM I plan on scouting a couple of the rough sections middle of next week. No flooding happened around here this spring, but it did rain really hard last night and I'm sure some roads have not seen the maintainer crew yet. RE: Dual Sport Event (Glenwood, MN) - Lapchik - 05-10-2023 06:15 PM Going to limit the group size to 5. Or 6 including me. Keeps the group moving, less waiting. Currently... 1. Kory 2. SP 3. PB 4. 5. 6. RE: Dual Sport Event (Glenwood, MN) - Cruzin - 05-11-2023 06:23 AM WR is in the shop right now, won't have time Memorial day weekend. You can add me for later in the year. RE: Dual Sport Event (Glenwood, MN) - Lapchik - 05-11-2023 09:29 AM Just cross out the "not a WR" on the windshield of your FJR and put "is a WR" RE: Dual Sport Event (Glenwood, MN) - Lapchik - 05-15-2023 12:01 AM I will have a somewhat shorter route made for memorial day. I'll post it when I'm done mapping it. RE: Dual Sport Event (Glenwood, MN) - Lapchik - 05-15-2023 09:13 PM I have created a G.R.E.A.T. lite version of the route. This is the ride I will lead on Memorial Day. 137 miles, more gas stops, more bar-n-grill/food, more time for flower sniffing and picture taking. Plus Some lakefront roads on Lake Minnewaska and "Hogsback" road north of Starbuck that was not on the original G.R.E.A.T. route. Less connecting roads, and still hits all the major points other than the bird island in lake Johanna, but you can't really see much without binoculars. I can boat right up to it if anyone wants a tour of the lake. There is a pond in an island in that lake too. There is also a pioneer cemetery not on the map, but it is about 2 miles south of the ordway prairie overlook on the east side of the road. there is a parking area, and it is about 1000 feet up the ridge from that. PB 4. rowdyred94 [ADVrider] 5. 6. RE: Dual Sport Event (Glenwood, MN) - Cruzin - 05-22-2023 09:40 AM I see your going through Starbuck...stopping by Holy Skogen? I drove by it this morning but the sign was down and it looked like a mess. I'll check and see if it's still open while I'm working out here this week. Hopefully the WR will be done this week ![]() RE: Dual Sport Event (Glenwood, MN) - Lapchik - 05-22-2023 10:40 AM Garden gnomes are creepy. Maybe stop to look at the lefsa record plaque. RE: Dual Sport Event (Glenwood, MN) - Lapchik - 05-26-2023 02:51 PM Current rider list 1. Lapchik 2. SP 3. PB 4. rowdyred94 5. 6. It is super dusty out there right now, but we should be able to space out enough to mitigate it. I rode around 80 miles yesterday and the flooded roads are back above water. Most have been graded, but a few of the roads I was on still have heaves/soft spots that have not been graded yet. When I do guided rides, I have a sheet I hand out with my contact info and how I like to pace the ride. Basically... -Ride at your own pace, stop to take pictures whenever you want. I will stop at all the major points I know are good pic stops too. -Keep the person behind you in view as much as possible so we don't get separated. Helps set pace too. [allows for distance, dust mitigation] -Wait at all corners and indistinct navigation points until the person behind uses a blinker or does a big overhead wave -If too much time passes at a stop, the leader will ride the route back to collect everyone and help/locate the stopped rider.
