Yeah they both are different.

Has to be this way since different parts of the country classify townships differently, if this tour was only midwest I'd have an alternate answer.

I guess I'm confused

Doesn't it have to be an actual town?

I mean we have Blue Creek, (my Grandson goes to school a to Blue Creek School) but it's a subdivision, not a town really, it's part of Billings or the county, not really sure... no post office there, but there is a Fire Dept... We have Lockwood (already got that one), it has a post office (and yes, I know the post office itself doesn't qualify) what's fair?

I figure it pretty much has to be a town of some kind, right?

it can get confusing for us midwestern folks on the township rules. If you go out to east coast or I even saw a few in Michigan, townships are actually real towns with PO, fire, town halls, etc.
If you are unsure if a town will count, google the town, that's what I do.
So if you look at Blue Creek, MT it brings up the school you mentioned in Billings, so I would not count it.
Searching Lockwood says: Lockwood is a census-designated place in Yellowstone County, Montana, United States
So I'd say it would count.

So do military post count? They do have zip codes and show up on a Google search.

I'm going to stay with no, I don't want people taking photos of military bases, might get someone in trouble.
