I have an aluminum skid plate on my CRF250L. If I mount it skid plate to frame, it has a high frequency buzz when the engine gets up in RPMs. I tried a soft rubber between the skid plate and the frame (minimal noise reduction), and I also tried some foam like you get in pelican cases or gun cases, but it melted. Not a horrible mess, but I don't want to risk a fire. I thought about buying some Dynamat, which is an automotive insulation for sound, but again, I'm not sure if it will catch fire, or how long it might last. What do you guys use to keep skid plates quiet?

I had the same buzz with my WR. I used garden hose washers, under the bolts & along the frame, keeping the plate from contacting.
I've heard of others using doubled strips of inner tube with good results.

I'm a fan of poly skidplates for bikes that arent really heavy.
I've beat my bike over rocks and logs of all types and it works well and is quiet.
