RE: Grand Tour Results - bill - 10-22-2013 06:05 PM From a non participant, thanks for taking the reins Mike. I know the people that play, truly enjoy the game. I know too, how important the event is to the club. Thanks to all of you that participate. Congratulations Bart. How many states did you cover to hit that kind of number? RE: Grand Tour Results - Shooter - 10-22-2013 06:41 PM Congrats Bart!!!!! As JohnF told me last year after my victory "you got to see more of small town America this year than most people get to see in a lifetime". The journey is the reward!!!!! RE: Grand Tour Results - Bart - 10-22-2013 08:41 PM Thanks, Mike and GLMC for providing a worthy incentive to visit lots of obscure small towns this season. Where did I ride? Lots of states of course, but many were not very useful - or, I wasn't riding there for Z to A reasons. Wyoming for example. I rode many miles in that state and didn't pick up a single Z to A location. One in Montana and Arizona. Three in Utah and New Mexico. Five in Missouri, seven in Colorado, nine in Nebraska, ten in IL and all of eleven in South Dakota. But...twenty-something in KS; thirty two in OK; forty one in TX; and lots and lots in Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. Native American names seemed to be useful sources of "a" endings and there's lots of those in the middle of the country. I viewed Illinois as the motherlode and ultimately didn't get very many there, while I didn't leave many at all on the table in Iowa. Were I to recommend anything for the next GT...for lots of reasons, this http://www.teamstrange.com/ibet.htm was the best GT ever. NOT because it was an Eddie James/Team Strange event, but because each potential location was precious and hard-won. Getting to 50 locations was very hard. If you look at the rider list, reports and results, well, those were the days. Otherwise, I feel right now like I've been everywhere and that feels good with winter coming on. Cheers to all, Bart RE: Grand Tour Results - MikeH - 10-23-2013 06:22 AM I wonder why you were scouting, err I mean, riding around Wyoming if not for GT towns....... RE: Grand Tour Results - Weatherhead - 10-25-2013 10:13 AM WoW! Cool beans I won a tire with my "lucky 13" placing... I kind of ran out of steam this year, but sure had fun with this theme... Thank You Mike ...and Congratulations Bart!! After we talked this spring I was sure you where going to give Mr. Frick a run for hs money - Well Done! |
