This started it all for me. - Don Q - 01-18-2014 03:57 PM the ad from MMM 2003. I DNFed my first rally due to the "Lady Loop" http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j392/donaldquistorff/GLMC001_zps54d2243f.jpg RE: This started it all for me. - Lapchik - 02-10-2014 12:56 AM I did a little better in my first rally, Buffalo 2011 in LeMars, IA. Drove the tires right off my bike. RE: This started it all for me. - Scot229 - 02-11-2014 09:17 PM Hootis got me started. My first rally was the 2006 Buffalo run. I DNF'd the 2007 Bonzai because I tried to complete "the big lebowski" and didn't finish in time. I started out by hanging around Niobrara for a couple years to watch the crazy Team Strange events and Eddie. I talked to Bob at one of the events there, but never put 2 and 2 together until a few years later. In summer of '06 at the Iowa BMW rally I talked to some guys (don't remember their names) who had been doing the Bonzai. They told me it was the funnest rally so I found the GLMC online. Through email Hootis encouraged to try the 2006 Harvest Rally, so I bought a Polaroid camera and signed up. I put out a request to share a hotel room online and Phil Becker agreed - which worked out great because he gave me a lot of tips about how to organize my ride the night before. That was also the year I met Dave Weber, who said just to get out, ride and have fun. I also blew "The Big Lebowski" all or nothing combo at the 2007 Bonzai the next spring. Live and learn... or at least have fun trying. |
