RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - texnmidwest - 03-08-2015 03:56 PM OK, I know from reading the rules that Arrington and Village of Arrington will only count for one stop. But say if there are two towns Arrington and North Arrington or maybe Arrington Heights.....will both of those count? RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - MikeH - 03-09-2015 09:38 AM Arrington, North Arrington and Arrington Heights are all good. RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - texnmidwest - 03-09-2015 06:47 PM Super! Thanks Mike! RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - vtbeemergirl - 03-12-2015 08:30 PM Hi, When is the flag being mailed out... or did I miss something? Hoping to get rolling as soon as the ic melts here in Southern Vermont ![]() RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - paper - 03-12-2015 11:11 PM Mike usually sends them out a week before the beginning of the rally.. I'm guessing it won't be long.. I know here on the WI/IL state line the snow is just about gone, but the roads are still salt top, rather than black top.. ![]() I keep telling myself to be patient. It's not working.. RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - MikeH - 03-13-2015 07:45 PM Yup, should be receiving the flags early next week, I plan to mail them out around the 27th RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - MikeH - 03-26-2015 06:49 AM I went to a different style of flag this year, better quality and such. However I've discovered that this new towel doesn't like spray paint very well. I've found a process that sorta works by applying a base coat of primer than two coats of paint. Obviously this is taking me longer to make the flags, I'm still hoping to have all shipped by Saturday. Tonight I will finish all the flags from outside the midwest so those people will for sure get them before the 1st. Since the numbers might fade, don't worry if you can't get them to show up in your photos. RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - xander84 - 03-26-2015 08:07 AM Awesome! Hoping that the sending of the flags, brings nice weather with them. . RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - Lapchik - 03-26-2015 02:57 PM I do the sharpie outline every year, really makes the numbers stand out. For me at least. But I'm mostly blind. And to think I questioned moving to North Carolina... the only salt on the roads here is near the beach! Looking forward to getting my towel and getting an early start. Goal is to get points on 4 different bikes this year. Might be a little harder with the DRZ since I changed the sprockets out - I think it's no longer a "highway" bike But if I can take back roads and find a trail or two along the way, it'll make the ride tolerable! All good for one point because of common name, or if you got all three it would be three points? Just wanting to clarify, I have West LeMars/LeMars opportunity. RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - paper - 03-26-2015 07:48 PM Pretty sure it's a point each, much like last year.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - xander84 - 03-26-2015 08:01 PM That's how I understood it. I think what's different from last year is that a town, village, city can't each count as separate locations; you can only claim one. So, using Paper's example above; if he found a Barrington, Barrington village, City of Barrington, then he can only claim one. Your Lemars, West Lemars would each be a separate point. I'll let Mike confirm. RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - MikeH - 03-26-2015 08:33 PM (03-26-2015 08:01 PM)xander84 Wrote: That's how I understood it. All that is correct. FYI: I hate printers, just trying to get address labels printed and it can't be easy. On a positive note: I shouldn't have any issues getting the rest of the towels painted and packaged up for a Saturday morning trip to the post office. The reason: numbers are way down this year ![]() RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - Shooter - 03-26-2015 09:27 PM (03-26-2015 07:13 PM)Lapchik Wrote:(03-09-2015 09:38 AM)MikeH Wrote: Arrington, North Arrington and Arrington Heights are all good. West Le Mars? throwing the bullshit flag if it's Iowa ![]() RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - Lapchik - 03-26-2015 09:40 PM Chad . . .we both lived less than 10 miles from it at one point . . .it's even smaller than Seney. It's that elevator, the old Dalton Hotel, and there are a few foundations of abandoned buildings out there, maybe 3 or 4 houses. The curator for the Plymouth County museum lives out there. https://www.google.com/maps/place/West+Le+Mars,+Washington,+IA+51031/@42.7935081,-96.2265485,1073m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x878dc4c7eed451a5:0xfdbf83a4971bee20 RE: 2015 Grand Tour Questions - scottheinrich - 06-05-2015 07:45 PM Do ghost towns count? |
