How about an update from one of the Central NY U-Turn Crew - StarWolve - 03-19-2013 08:55 AM The last 4-5 months have been a little crazy for me, and I've been keeping quiet (mostly) about it for a while. So maybe I'm due for an update. A few things have changed. I'm now divorced (paperwork will be signed Thursday) and am infinitely happier for it. I also decided that if I've going to make some changes, I might as well change everything. I worked out a deal to leave my job in NY with a severance, provided that I finish up a major project. Hopefully I'll have that done in the next 3-4 weeks. And honestly, the lack of a riding season in NY just isn't fun anymore. I fell in love with Charlotte, NC, when I was visiting in November... plus I've been riding down there just about every year to meet up with friends in the area I bought a nice home near the near Mountain Island Lake, just North of Charlotte: And since I closed on it at the beginning of the month, I've been busy every weekend trying to move everything I own down to NC. A little bit of furniture to move, too: Luckily I have a couple nice trailers to haul things with: My friend is also renting a room from me for a few months, and he also has a couple bikes. Right now I have 8 bikes in the garage! If anyone wants to come visit in NC, please let me know. My spare room is always open for fellow bikers to stop in. I'm about 90 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, too. So there's some GREAT riding in this area. And with all these changes... Life is Good. And most importantly - the dogs seem to like the new house as well... RE: How about an update from one of the Central NY U-Turn Crew - Reaver - 03-21-2013 10:34 AM We're going to have to Update the name... RE: How about an update from one of the Central NY U-Turn Crew - Lapchik - 03-21-2013 06:51 PM I'll have to take you up on that spare room sometime! I've heard about you from Shooter, and would like to meet you sometime. Looks like the dock needs a little work though; it should be ABOVE the water, right? RE: How about an update from one of the Central NY U-Turn Crew - ST Rich - 03-23-2013 06:40 PM StarWolve, Thanks for the update! I am not sure if I will get east this year or not, but if I do, I will for sure be buying dinner and the first round! Your new area has so many awesome places to ride and great scenery. Regarding the recent changes, about all I can say is in support of what you already know and are doing...... When 1 door closes, another 1 will open in its place. BTDT. I look forward to meeting you someday soon and all the best!!!!! Rich RE: How about an update from one of the Central NY U-Turn Crew - StarWolve - 03-24-2013 10:18 AM Reaver - We'll just have to be the "U-Turn Crew". We were stretching the Central NY thing a bit anyways, with Nadz almost in the North-country, and you in "Horse country"!! Plus my Dad is riding in the Grand Tour again this year, so we'll have another Carolina rider represented! My house is always open for other riders, and for that matter - my truck and trailer are always ready to go if anyone needs support on the road. Of course - I really need to make some room in the garage if anyone is going to stop by... I just moved the last of the "big" stuff in from my house in NY - so maybe 2 more trips with my truck loaded up with little boxes and I'll be done. Now I just need to find a new job, and quit my job in NY! |
