2016 Bonzai Route - Pirate Gonzo - 05-31-2016 05:55 PM This is my 3rd Bonzai rally and every year I have posted my route so I didn't want to break tradition. The purple is what my planned route was. The green is what I actually did. I ended up cutting out 3 tags after Monroe and 4 above Richland Center because of time constraints along with forgetting my pie. House on the Rock was an after thought only because I was within 4 miles of it. I was able to get through the house in 20 minutes wearing my riding jacket and pant, probably looked like lunatic with my gear on. I had no idea the house was as big as it is. I got back out to my bike only to find it parked in by two other wisenheimer's and a lovely present in my helmet from one of my nephews. I spent most the morning fiddling about, enjoyed some lunch under a shade tree. I kept telling myself I had all the time in the world... and then I was out of time. I arrived back at check in with 4 minutes to spare. I really enjoyed the rally layout with the 350 mile limit, that was great and really added to the challenge. It would have been nice if we could have had the coordinates the night before just to get the data entry portion of it out of the way, or maybe some sort of flash drive/email with all the coordinates handed out in the morning. I'm glad to have been a part of it again this year and already can't wait for next years. Steve RE: 2016 Bonzai Route - Don Q - 05-31-2016 07:27 PM Plan your ride, ride your plan. Good job. I like the morning of bonus sheet, fly by the seat of my pants route. The Wisconsin roads were great along with a great bunch of riders. |
