***PICTURE UPDATE***
Some of the pictures in previous posts have bad links. Here is the album of all the pictures I have on this project.

***END UPDATE***

I have three 55 gallon drums, some pipe, and lots of fabrication equipment. So why not try to build a side car? I am planning on putting it on the CRF250L, which in my head works fine after some alcohol has numbed down the logic circuits. As far as I know, this will be a world first. Big vote of confidence there; it's probably a first because nobody else has been foolish enough to do it. If anyone has suggestions, know-how, or parts to donate/sell let me know!

Rowan wrote her name on it just below the picture I drew of her face. That section gets cut out, and the end of the blue drum gets narrowed to form the body.

Gen-u-wine Honda parts (off a CB450) for my project. I have four or five of these, so I can always go double up later if one isnt enough.

Gathering more parts. Not sure if I will use the windshield or not, but it will sure be handy in the winter. Had most of this laying around, but had to go buy the wheel and hub stuff.

Building the nose cone

Not sure if adults will fit in this if I only do the nose cone and the grey barrel. I need room behind the seat for ballast and/or storage. I may need to put the rest of the blue barrel on the back end.

A little progress tonight. Too damn hot to get much done.

I think it would be really clever if your back area flipped open to the side for access to the luggage and it was also a BBQ grill when opened.

RE: CRF250L Sidecar - Lapchik - 07-18-2016 10:36 PM

I can probably do one, but not the other. Current plan is to have the seat fold forward and have a kind of trunk area behind it.

RE: CRF250L Sidecar - Lapchik - 07-21-2016 09:27 PM

Got the seat today. With the heat index over 110 the last few days, there hasn't been any metal working progress.

"Daddy, you got me a red one just like I asked for!"

The top is all welded [on the outside], now I just need to build a cap for it.

Pre-cision body work on this thing.

1 for 2 on rolling tube. I'll have to try again later. These are for edging on the opening of the sidecar.

RE: CRF250L Sidecar - Lapchik - 07-30-2016 09:06 PM

Made a little progress this week. Got the nose welded to the body, and marked the opening for the cockpit. Next update should be the seat going in and making plans for the frames.

She can finally sit in it! She is very happy about that, but wishes that the seat was bolted in. That's been her main concern for almost 2 weeks now. I think that she would be fine with just the barrel and seat and her imagination; forget hooking it up to the bike!

If this design ends up being to heavy for your 250...Have you thought about maybe a metal frame and a 30 Gal Plastic barrel?

The one Jeff has is fairly small as well, not sure what he weight of that tug is.

RE: CRF250L Sidecar - Lapchik - 07-31-2016 06:07 PM

Yeah I figured either plastic drum or thin laminate plywood
