RE: 2017 Grand Tour Questions - Lapchik - 03-08-2017 10:45 AM

Schools... Have to have town name on them?

RE: 2017 Grand Tour Questions - xander84 - 03-08-2017 11:32 AM

Nope, but when you submit your photos, list the city, state the school is in.

Think about that? Most Schools, Fire Departments, Train Stations, Motorcycle Shops, Diners / Drive in's & yes, Dinosaur's don't have town names.

However, every one of them must have the closest town & state listed when submitted.

Does a rider have to choose EITHER between general or specific places and stick with that during the competition or can a rider find BOTH general and specific places?

RE: 2017 Grand Tour Questions - xander84 - 03-08-2017 11:44 AM

It's completely up to the rider - same as last year.

You can do only specific, only general, or both general and specific.
You're not locked in to either.

Specific locations will be listed before April 1st.

RE: 2017 Grand Tour Questions - ajayhawkfan - 03-08-2017 12:09 PM

This will be my first Grand Tour. I just signed up.

I assume someone will be sending me a Rally Placard.

RE: 2017 Grand Tour Questions - xander84 - 03-08-2017 12:13 PM

Awesome, tell your friends to sign up as well.

We are using digital placards, you'll get the file before the rally starts.
That way, if you lose it, you can just print another one.

Last year, some people submitted the file to have stickers made.
Others, just printed it out and laminated it.

If I had friends I would.

I will post on the NEW KCBMW Club website and forum. https://kcbmwmc.com/ I don't know how many people will see it because the site was just launched.

It might help if you'd quit poking them in the eye!

Welcome! You're going to have fun.

Is the right address to send the checks
46177 181st street
Castlewood sd 57223

The signup page seemed to say
46177 - 181 street

RE: 2017 Grand Tour Questions - xander84 - 03-09-2017 12:18 PM

Yes, that is the correct address.
Either of those will route to the same place.

RE: 2017 Grand Tour Questions - Lapchik - 03-09-2017 01:05 PM

Does a train depot have to still be train related in its business? For example, there is a dental depot near me. Dentist office in an old train station. Still looks like a station. That work?

RE: 2017 Grand Tour Questions - xander84 - 03-09-2017 01:10 PM

If a train doesn't stop there, then I would say that it is not a train station, depot, or terminal.

RE: 2017 Grand Tour Questions - Willie - 03-09-2017 04:04 PM

Not to beat a dead horse....well I am going to beat the horse anyways.

On my previous questions about National Parks this link was provided

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_national_parks_of_the_United_States

Right before you get to a listing for the National Parks in 27 states with the pictures is this phrase

A few former national parks are no longer designated as such, or have been disbanded. Other units of the National Park Service (417 altogether) are broadly referred to as national parks; they are listed here.[6]

The word "here" the last word in the sentence brings you to this spot

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_areas_in_the_United_States_National_Park_System

which is the 477 Parks, Memorial, Historic Sites, Battlefields, Monuments, etc etc,

I believe the intent is to only include NATIONAL PARKS which have the pictures in the first link (which are only in 27 states)and exclude Memorial, Historic Sites, Battlefields, Monuments, etc etc

So the horse is whinning, kicking and biting

What say yea !!!

Willie

The National Parks included in this Grand Tour are the 59 ones listed on that page.
Sorry, not the other 417 areas.

There are 10,234 state park units in the United States, at least one in every state.
And to specify, the intended state parks are the ones listed on this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_state_parks_by_U.S._state

To further specify, when in doubt, the name of the location should be "_____ National Park" or "_______ State Park"

Hope that clears everything up.

In other words, it has to be an active depot?

RE: 2017 Grand Tour Questions - xander84 - 03-09-2017 10:35 PM

Good clarification, in the spirit of the game, it doesn't need to be an active depot.
I wouldn't want to miss out on any cool pictures of old ghost town train stations.

What was previously being described was a dentist office, described as not being train related, which isn't train station.

Alfred Packer's Grave Lake City 39.605077, -105.016523

The grave is in Littleton, Colorado. The coordinates are correct. Lake City is where he stopped for a "snack".
