Wet riding today!
I haven't seen too many people posting GT pictures, so here's a few from today.

We started off in the rain, ran in and out of it all day, but managed to pick up a bunch of points. I'm hoping to finish tomorrow morning, and dad should be finished next weekend.

We rode about 320 miles, and the Buell ran like a dream. Michelin PP3's are amazing tires, btw. They felt just as good in the rain and they do dry.

RE: Wet riding today!
It wouldn't be normal for you to start before mid August. hehehe
I just showed my fellow Googlers my GT/U-turn video the other day to explain the GT contest. They couldn't believe I drove 7000 miles in 11 days just to take pics of signs. They all commented that they liked the Fatboy with the apes and the guy with the metallic retro orange helmet. Then they started referencing Easy Rider.....lol

Glad to see that things are going good after your move!!!!! Say hi to the Old Coot on the Scoot for me!!! Smile

RE: Wet riding today!
With the move to Charlotte, I didn't have much time to get an early start. I was able to finish the tour yesterday - grabbed another 5 points South of Myrtle Beach. Dad still needs a few more, so he'll be riding up to Charlotte this weekend to visit and go GT hunting.

My goal when I started this year was to get points on all 3 bikes, and I was able to to that. If the 250 was on the road, I'd consider riding that one for a photo as well!

Also good news on the U-Turn crew - we have another "official" member! Brian, my friend from NY who moved down here, will most likely be touring with us next year. He didn't finish his tour a couple years ago, and he's been working on getting a running bike since then.

He finally decided that he's had enough frustration working on his project bike, and is buying a Triumph Bonneville T100. He was riding the 250, but that bike just couldn't keep up, so I'm glad to see him on a decent bike.

RE: Wet riding today!
Both Dad and I wrapped up our GT's. Dad ended up with 26 yesterday, and I have 28. The I managed to pick up Buena Vista and Columbia, but otherwise we got almost all the GT points together, or separately with the one of us acting as a "guide" to take the other to get the same points later. (It's a lot easier that way - we can scout points for each other!)

Here's the link to my album for this year: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=...1a1c71677a

Moving to Charlotte was probably the best thing I have done. I miss riding with the Central NY U-Turn Crew, but it's nice that my dad is less than 4 hours away. It's also nice that he's retired, and can ride up whenever he wants to!

Gastonia turned out to be our "goldmine" this year for points. West Gastonia, East Gastonia, South Gastonia, and Gastonia - 4 points within 25 miles of my house!

Dad had a good time this year, too!
