Blame Chad
I was asking Jack about your ADV rally. He passed me on to a number of members to help explain what the rally entails. Chad asked if I post on this forum. I took that as an invitation to join so when I start annoying all of you, and I will, don't blame me, blame Chad.
I hope to make it to the ADV Rally next month. It sounds like a lot of fun. If any of you are looking for something to do the weekend after Memorial Day weekend the KC BMW Club has our rally in Atchison, KS. They has very nice riding through the Loess Hill on both the MO and KS side of the Missouri River. The City of Atchison is welcoming us with open arms. They turned over an entire city park for our exclusive use. The park is beautiful with a large lake in the middle. You can camp anywhere in the park. Additional information can be found here: http://www.kcbmwmc.com/rally2015.htm I will be leading a GS Ride on Saturday during the rally. I hope some of you can make it. Eddie |

I sure hope Chad is going to your rally and spreading the word about the GLMC Dual Sport rally.
And BTW welcome to the GLMC It's not a competition, It's a demonstration. "Rowan" Jeff Kerkow In the Valley of the Jolly Green Giant GLMC #214 COG #7524, IBA #46513, |

RE: Blame Chad
I'm still on the fence regarding Hiawatha vs. Kansas Rally. I got my day off request in and approved for it today... can't do both can I? I know a few folks going to Kansas Rally and a few going to Money Creek. Can I stop by Chad's on the way and visit Jean and Haley? Is there a place like Stumpy's in Kansas? Can you smoke cigars in the park? Anyone else?

RE: Blame Chad
I'll be at the Kansas Rally. There's better barbecue there.
Mind you, the Aroma PIE! shoppe is not far from Money Creek. So many possibilities. It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem. |

RE: Blame Chad
Apparently and sadly the Aroma Pie Shop isn't a possibility any more: https://plus.google.com/1041753076396400...l=us&hl=en
I never got to go there I had lunch at the cafe in Whalen a couple times (don't remember the name of it). My riding buddy Al who passed away from cancer last fall grew up on a dairy farm not far from Whalen. He still knew many of the folks at the cafe when we went there. |

RE: Blame Chad
If you have been to Hiawatha in the past try something new and give KS a try.
I can tell you the camping is much better at KS. We have an entire park and you can camp anywhere and there are no permanent residents. You can also smoke cigars all you want. I know at least one other that plans to smoke cigars and drink whisky all day because he may not be able to ride. Map of the park, lots and lots of shade: http://www.cityofatchison.com/egov/docum...303588.pdf Only a short ride away is Weston, MO and Weston Cafe. You will like their pie. http://westoncafe.tinytownsusa.com/ Dust sucks so I'll lead. |

RE: Blame Chad
Sounds tempting, a hundred miles further from me but $10 cheaper. Wonder what they charge us old farts who arrive on thursday for the extra night's camping?

Check out this place if you are in Weston MO. Has a really cool underground bar/stage. Good food too. I'm not a fan of the alcoholic root beer, but my fiance and her friends really like it. http://www.youtube.com/korysrides |

Nothing. I believe some of the club members that are helping set up will be grilling hotdogs. Come and join us. I have been told it is their most profitable product. Weston is a very good destination for a ride. It has a nice little downtown and some very neat old homes built in the 1840-1860s. Dust sucks so I'll lead. |

I told Don, rally chairman, you'll be there. You will automatically be a "volunteer" and welcome to brats that night.
I also sent you an instant message with my phone number. Let me know if I can help in any way. Dust sucks so I'll lead. |

RE: Blame Chad
I ended up going South to Oz Rally Saturday after spending most of the day Friday on my day off working on the GS "Pig" and after checking weather Saturday morning. Pulled in and setup Saturday afternoon. I guess I managed to miss the most of the rain. Sorry I didn't get to meet you Eddie, but wasn't there a lot and I was camped down by the lake (Pavilion #1). I did manage stay up later then anyone in my camping area after talking to Karen, Mike, Tom, Lee, and some of the other folks down by the lake.
It looked like you guys had a good rally and the camping areas were great. If I make it back next year, Weston and some of the the historic areas in town will be my main destinations. I had a great ride through the Loess Hills on back roads Sunday. You guys have the ride to/from Sioux City/Hiawatha easily beat (NC Iowa/SC Minnesota are pretty darned flat). |

It was good to see you Frump, albeit briefly.
Lots of good stuff at this years Kansas rally, plenty to build on. A huge success I reckon. It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem. |
