Arm Chair Rally reminder
I got busy on my house remodeling I forgot to repost this Friday night. Less than a week to go!!!!! I have four riders signed up and I'm hoping for ten or more. Smile So if your bored Staurday morning grab a cup of coffee and spend the morning routing some fun western bonuses and practice you routing skills.

Somebody will get the cool Dave Weber trophy!!! Will it be you?

When: 8 AM CST March 2, 2013

Where: From your favorite comfy chair

Entry Fee: It's FREE!!!!!!! But you must be registered before 7 PM on March 1st.

Registration: Just send me an email to me before the deadline titled Arm Chair Rally Registration with your name and address (I only need your addresses to send you the trophy should you win).

Rally Summary

This rally is more like a routing exercise since you won't be riding the route. Again this is just an online routing rally you will not be riding anywhere. The rally will be based on a 5 day rally. There will be approximately 75 bonuses and a few combos. All bonuses will be west of the Mississippi. There will also be separate start and finish locations. Other than that you will have to wait and see. You will be emailed a score sheet and a GPX file at the beginning of the rally with all the bonus locations. You will then have 5 hours to create a route and email me back a GPX file with your route and the score sheet filled in with what bonuses your claiming. The person with the most points wins and tie breakers will be decided by shortest route. This rally is meant to help perfect routing skills and kill the boredom of winter. Virtual rallying is better than no rallying.

I am trying to keep this simple so here are the rules.

1. You must be registered before 7 PM on March 01, 2013.

2. Your route must be under 6000 miles. I will import your GPX file into Microsoft Streets and Trips 2011 to calculate your mileage. You can use any software you want to route and create your GPX file but I will use S&T 2011 for your official mileage.

3. You cannot go more than 1600 miles without taking a 6 hour rest period. You MUST take your rest period at a bonus location. So doing the math you will have to take 3 rest periods along the way at your choice of bonus locations.

4. Your GPX file and score sheet must be emailed back no later than 1 PM on March 2, 2013.

Chad, will there be a bonus listing supplied, i.e. a list of the bonus locations and their point values, as well as the .gpx file?

Looks like the my local weather will, again, be marginal to go out for a ride...so this may fill in the time.

Q: Chad, will there be a bonus listing supplied, i.e. a list of the bonus locations and their point values, as well as the .gpx file?

A: Yes I will attach a word doc with the locations and an Excel spreadsheet.

We just got a foot of snow so I'm trying to get my basement done. April 1st is my oh shit deadline for obvious reasons.

Haley just asked me last night when we were going to go riding to see you and have lunch. She also explained that Ohio isn't THAT far and we could make it there and back in a day. hehehe

Couple more years and I think she could make that ride!!!!!

The Arm Chair should be interesting to see how other people think when routing.

I can send you out a copy on Saturday Mike if you would like to play with it later? Might be good practice for the IBR?
