I made reservations at the Stroppel Hotel, in Midland, for the group. The rate is $500 for 14 beds. Now that we've lost a couple riders the individual rate will be a bit more.

My house in Kennebec doesn't have an address. It's a Gray house across the street from the school.

Coordinates N43.90208 W99.85637

We should be leaving Kennebec by 9:00 AM. There is a convenient store/gas station in town. Also a grocery store & restaurant.

Here is a screenshot of the route we'll be riding. Red is Saturdays route....Blue is Sunday.

If your gps is capable of following tracks & you would like to load them, drop me an email with TSDAT in the subject. Otherwise we can do it Friday evening too.

RE: TSDAT September Ride Planning
I have decided that I will ride my 650 for the complete trip. Have a room for Friday night and will not have to pack a tent, sleeping bag mat etc.

With just my tools, clothing, toiletries, Water, some snacks, maybe a small soft sided cooler, packing and traveling should be fairly simple.

Having all day Friday to make the trip, will try to combine pavement with some non paved in between highways. Hope to arrive at Kennebec late afternoon.

So I better get to looking at some maps.

Jack, thank you for getting this trip together, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.

RE: TSDAT September Ride Planning
For those riding out I was going to try & explain a nice route out, then remembered, I have it saved on my Spotwalla page!

The route follows Old Highway 16 the main route across South Dakota before I-90. In fact, it parallels 90 much of the way. For those that were along last year, you'll remember coming back to Chamberlain, we took a scenic gravel road overlooking the Missouri River. Be sure to ride this going out....it's the only way to get to Reliance without needing to get on I-90.

Open the link & zoom in. You will see the roads.

https://spotwalla.com/embed.php?id=cf265...refresh=no

I'm looking forward to the ride too....even though I'll be on four wheels;(

RE: TSDAT September Ride Planning
Updated in list below. I'll be in Kennebec by noon Friday. If you're planning to stay in the house, bring a sleeping bag. That way we don't have to do laundry before leaving.

The weather looks to be great for the weekend. This is going to be fun!

RE: TSDAT September Ride Planning
12 riders,,12 bikes ?

any doing it 2 up?

Packing, loading the bike, should be rolling early in the morning.

Route undecided most of the direct routes put it at 300 miles or so

We will eat at the restaurant in Kennebec. We're bringing a coffee maker, like the one you use at the campout.
