RE: DakAL Trip Planning
If you can't make the concession table area here's a couple more opportunities.
LS Giant posted this in the IMS thread. RE: Twin Cities International Motorcycle Show (IMS) 2017 OK Folks here is the skinny. The group will be meeting at 8:30 for breakfast at Fat Nats, 3450 Winnetka Ave, New Hope http://www.fatnatseggs.com/ For supper I have reserved the party room at McKenzie's Pub,918 Hennepin Ave, Mpls. it is a 15 minute walk from the convention center. We will have our own upstairs space that has a capacity of 40 people so please feel free to invite your friends but I would not post it on ADV or other boards. I have been there a couple of times and personally know the owner. The food has always been good and the beverage selection is phenomenal. Festivities will start at 5:00 PM http://mackenziepub.com/ I guess we better add this as an official event next year Jeff Kerkow In the Valley of the Jolly Green Giant GLMC #214 COG #7524, IBA #46513, |

RE: DakAL Trip Planning
I should be in for the concession table and a stool at the McKenzie's pub. I'm working out the details and looking for a room nearby to make this happen.

RE: DakAL Trip Planning
I think I just bought my second bike (WR250r) from that crazy gingersnap in MN....
Might be bringing a buddy on the trip and letting him use it and ride the ol' hippo (KLR650). I'm gonna try and get to MOAB and test out the WR this spring if work allows me. Chad "Shooter" Churchill GLMC #447 |

RE: DakAL Trip Planning
We're on for 2PM in the concession area at the show. I'll be wearing a Glacial Lakes Motorcycle Club T-shirt. No big agenda planned , just discuss the ride & some different options.
See ya there. |

RE: DakAL Trip Planning
What do you want to know? There weren't many questions that I heard. About the only thing I mentioned was, with the large group, we'll break up into several smaller groups. Fast guys, slow guys, & of course Lost guys. Some may want to ride the entire route as it's laid out including the pavement sections ie. Custer Sate Park, Needles Highway, Spearfish Canyon. Others prefer to bypass the hard surface & stay on trails/gravel. At least one person in each group should be comfortable following & navigating tracks.
I will contact motels & post here. Everyone will need to make their own reservations. It was good to meet a couple of the new guys, thanks for stopping by. |

RE: DakAL Trip Planning
I enjoyed the get-together last night and meeting new people. I was educated as to the club's road rally events. I checked them out some more on the home page, and they sound like fun.
I would ride my 690 I guess. I was wondering what tire works well on the 690 for this type of riding and still gives good traction in the dirt. Sounds like a lot of guys ride 690s here too. I run full knobbies because I still do a lot of riding out west and want the knobby for the sand, rocky hill climbs etc. I will be probably be putting a MT-21 for a big trip in the southwest. But that trip will wear this tire out, so I am open to something else after that. Thanks |

RE: DakAL Trip Planning
All right a Tire thread I started mine with MT 21's I have a Heidenau K60 on the rear now and have not decided what I will put on the front this spring. I would think at the rate this thing goes through tires I should be on my 3rd set by September.
