RE: 2025 Grand Tour Q&A
For photo submissions, instead of sending in a USB, would an SD card suffice?

Secondly...

(02-04-2025 11:52 AM)StarWolve Wrote:  A question about "all locations need to be in towns that starts with G, L, M, C" - is this "location" or mailing address?

For example: The Lowesville Cafe, is in the Lowesville community/area. Lowesville is a census-designated place in the County and State, United States. However, the mailing address is not Lowesville, it is the larger nearby town name. If this other town name doesn't start with GLMC, does it still count as this is a census designated place?

My gut would be to go with "it counts", as it's a census designated place, even if the mailing address uses the name of a nearby town.

If you do a google maps search of Lowesville, NC, it shows that CDP as having established boundaries, separate from the boundaries of Mt. Holly.

The only obvious thing that Lowesville has in common with Mt. Holly is that its mailing addys are linked to Mt. Holly.

So, if a CDP is mapped, meets the G, L, M, or C requirement, but has no post office, would it still qualify if its mail came from a post office that didn't meet the G, L, M, or C naming requirement?

For instance, the Derby Inn is in the unincorporated community of Guckeen, MN, but has a Blue Earth, MN mailing address.

One more thing to ponder...

Does the establishment need to be within the town's legal boundaries, or could it be outside town limits if its mailing address is linked to the G, L, M, or C lettered town?

RE: 2025 Grand Tour Q&A
Not sure I quite understand the chip idea.

Is the rule such that we have to stop by a motorcycle dealer and purchase a poker chip. Get a photo of the chip with our flag for 1 point, and if said dealer in in a town named G, L, M or C, we get an additional 1 point?

Do non-Harley dealers sell poker chips? I've never been to a dealer and specifically asked about them.

Can we get a poker chip from any business provided they offer one?

Do challenge coins count? (Looking on the HD website, those are quite expensive, but figure I would ask)

I found the Lake Front Bar & Grill in Lexington,MN. It has a Le Center,MN mailing address. Le Center also has the Little Dandy Bar & Grill. Do both count or only one since the address is Le Center. Thanks.

RE: 2025 Grand Tour Q&A
StarWolve: I'm trying to think through your question. Are you asking if an unincorporated community is a town? Answer: No. Or are you asking if there is a post office requirement? Answer: No. It doesn't need a post office. Or are you asking if the unincorporated community has a post office address that is associated with a town that begins with G, L, M, or C. If the later, yes. That qualifies. If I am misunderstanding your question, let me know.

Understanding the poker chip idea...You can find poker chips at non-Harley dealers. But, you don't need to purchase it. Just get a pic with it. Yes, photo of chip, flag, and dealer in a corresponding town. They tend to be plentiful at Harley and Indian dealers. However, I've run across them at BMW and Honda dealers as well. I'd just call ahead and see if they are in stock and/or are carried. I've been to a number of dealers that carry them but out of stock and told to return later. You can get them from any motorcycle dealer that carries them.

Challenge coins can be very expensive. We limited it to poker chips so that if riders wanted a token of their GT ride, it would be easily obtainable for a couple of bux. Just poker chips this time. No challenge coins. Most places that have challenge coins also have poker chips. So, you should be in luck.

Yes. SD cards work. Send a prepaid S.A.S.E. with your SD card so we can get it back to you.

RE: 2025 Grand Tour Q&A
Ok, after reading the rules again... they only mention towns or cities. So if the town or city is not listed in the index of towns and cities on the state map (yes I still have paper maps), it does not count. Thank you for hosting this years GT.

Hmmmm . . . the way I read Point 7 of the Fine Print, I think you need the chip, your flag, your ride and the dealership.

I assume that "your ride" means your motorcycle.

RE: 2025 Grand Tour Q&A
Point 7 of the fine print reads, "Qualifying photos for chips include you holding a chip with rally card on your ride in front of the dealer. You should send a close-up of the chip in a separate photo if not legible in the first photo containing your ride and the dealer. If riding two-up, each rider needs their own chip."

You can hold it, place it on your vehicle, or include both. Point being is that there is not need to purchase. Just capture. If I am missing the point of your post, please let me know so that I can clarify.

Sure. Motorcycle with the chip works. But, if separate photos work as well.

You mentioned, "My interpretation of the Fine Print was that this means that you require your motorcycle in the photo as well as the chip, your flag and the Dealership.

You are absolutely correct. That would be the preferred submission. Capture all three in a photo. However, if it isn't possible, snag a series of photos that link each photo at a location together is fine as well.

RE: 2025 Grand Tour Q&A
On the chips, is a poker chip from a casino eligible? In PA there are a series of Hollywood Casino locations and their poker chips each have the location printed on them. One happens to be in Grantville, PA so if I have one of those and take a picture with my ride, flag, and said chip in front of the casino will that count?

RE: 2025 Grand Tour Q&A
"Many motorcycle dealers sell poker chips..."
"...a poker chip available for acquisition at Illinois Harley Davidson in..."
"Qualifying photos for chips include you holding a chip with rally card on your ride in front of the dealer."

Lots of dealership talk, zero casino mentions in the rules.
