It is not exactly "the bottom 40 acres", but I did harvest my early Spring crop of mixed buffalo grass and clover flowers this morning.

What say you, Lapchik ??

Mrs DowunUnder and I are heading off for a glamping holiday next week, so the next photo tag will be your bike near a fabric tent.

Do hunting blinds count? It will probably still be another 3 months before people are camping here.

There is very little hunting done here in Sydney, except for finding a car parking spot, so I am not altogether sure what a hunting blind looks like.

I found an on-line definition of a tent that says it is a temporary structure, enclosure or shelter constructed of fabric or pliable material supported by poles and/or guy ropes.

So if your hunting blind has a roof and at least 1 wall, both made of fabric, then that will qualify as a "tent"

I have been looking for 3 months. Didn't see any during turkey hunting season, but it's camping season now so should start seeing them soon.

Do fabric ice fishing shelters count? Between the two trucks, there are two fabric shelters.

RE: Photo Tag game?
Other than watching the Grumpy Old Men movie years ago, I know as much about ice fishing shelters as I do about hunting blinds, but if they are made of fabric and they have some kind of roof, then they are close enough to being a tent for me.

So all good, pick the next tag.

RE: Photo Tag game?
I only set mine up when it's really cold (20°f or less), or when it's windy. It's basically a pop up fabric canopy with sides. You can also get them built into a sled, that either unfold and go up like tents, or flip over top of you like a clam shell. I generally prefer to drink beer and not catch fish in the comfort of my apartment, but I also do that on the ice sometimes. For extra suffering. Fancy rich people have lowrider campers with hydraulics or cables to drop them onto the ice, and they cook full meals and watch TV while they fish. It's normal for those nicer units to have sleeping areas too.

The old rig. I no longer have any of this stuff. Other than the daughter. I still have her.

RE: Photo Tag game?
Next tag, get your bike with a clock tower. Not a digital sign outside a bank or a dentist, an actual analog clock with hands. A large analog clock on a building instead of a tower is also ok.

Here you go. Originally, this building, which was built in the 1950s, was a clothing manufacturing facility. The 1970/80s, it was a warehouse and today it is a fitness centre and retail shop. In 2 years time it will be converted to a high school.

Cool, what's next?

I was in the garage today since it is the first day above freezing in almost two months. I can tear a bike down to the frame [nearly] and put it back together in a week for the GT, right?

RE: Photo Tag game?
Is that a 5 day "business" week or a 7 day "calendar" week ??

Staying with time related devices, and with Summer coming to the northern hemisphere, the next tag will be the face of a sun dial.

If it is not possible to get your motorcycle in the photo with the sun dial, then your helmet & riding gloves next to the sun dial will suffice.

A Free Tip :--
If I was looking for a sundial, I would probably visit a large town's park, or a garden plant nursery as sundials are a popular in "formal" gardens.

I might even visit a Walmart :== Walmart Sundials

Man, if we could finally break winter's cold, cruel, lingering spell I'd be actively seeking sundials.

And garden centers up here ain't even open yet.

RE: Photo Tag game?
Yeah, the lakes around here are still the solid version of water.

I have located several sundials. Blasting down the interstate, dealing with Minneapolis traffic at 6-7pm, then blasting up the interstate back home all at 30-40 degrees sounds like a punishment rather than a fun ride. I know of one back home in Iowa too, but I'm waiting for 45° to be the low for the day instead of the high before attempting that 500 mile loop.

RE: Photo Tag game?
So the weather was good enough to go GT Bonus hunting, and you had your bike, your helmet, your gloves and a sundial, and there is no photo ????

That is not how the game is played.

I didn't realize that a sundial was in the immediate area of a particular GT bonus until after my ride, meaning I planned my ride poorly.
