RE: BBE
St Rich has been added.
It is official, this is the largest number of entrants for the BBE.
Route was double checked last weekend and all is good. Should be a blast.

RE: BBE
Great. one two up couple would be great, 2 two up couples would be super great. I think I will make the ruling only 1 entree fee per bike. Rider gets in free. How is that for incentive.

RE: BBE
Does Minnesota have the buy it here burn it here rule for firewood? Just wondering as I can get it pretty cheap here, but don't want to spread some devastating tree disease or whatever.

Yep, that is the rule. Burn it in the county you bought it.

RE: BBE
OK! I need a final count of who is coming by tomorrow night because Thursday I will be buying the food.
Check the rider list and if your name is not on it and you are coming you have to send me a e-mail. If your name is on the list you don't need to do anything. You can sign up and pay at the event but I need a head count.
Can't wait to see everyone.

I can see it now.... the Concourse idling all night, purring like a little kitten.

I will be in my shorts enjoying the cool. Cool

Lapchik and I will get to the campground around 2-3pm.

RE: BBE
Saturday was a great day. Weather was beautiful and the participants who came made the day the best ever! With 12 contestants this year we were challenged to get them all on the road in one minute increments then rush to the check-in to arrive before the first contestant checked-in. We learned that as the numbers increase we will need to make each leg a bit longer to offset the amount of time it takes to embark.

We started at 11:00 am with a one hour rally where riders had to seek out various sites in and around Glenwood, MN and come back with answers to our questions.

Lunch at noon was quick and easy, hamburgers on the grill, chips, pop and cookies.

After lunch we ran 4-legs out through the country roads, finding one interesting (no-maintenance) road through the woods with trees down and wash-outs. Everyone did so good there that we will have to improve the challenges next year, find a river to cross or something better.

At the end of the 2nd leg we had two challenges where riders had to drop rings around cones 3-down using one hand and three coming back using the other hand. This was timed and if the foot hit the ground you were disqualified. The 2nd was a timed slow driving contest to see who could go thou the course in the most time without putting a foot down or going over the line (2-feet wide). Many contestants asked about the barrel race again. Some were disappointed we weren't doing it but others appreciated the change in challenges.

The final leg took us to a small town called Swift Falls were there is a beautiful park and of course a bar/restaurant to visit to catch a drink and meal and of discuss the day.

A special thanks to Todd and Sonya Gylsen who gave us a place to start the race from and to Jamie and Vicky Erdman for providing their property to run the challenges on. And thank to Sharon (my wife) for all her help and support.

Attached are the results of the routes and challenges.

I find it amazing how close most of the times
were for all the riders.

Dave

The Circus came to town!!!!!!
Thank you Dave and Sharon!!!! What a great event!!!!!!

Super thank you to Rich Reed for letting me borrow his KLR (I hope I put some good Karma into the bike Wink )

Well what can I say? I finally made it up to Dave's Little Circus he calls the BBE. Double the riders from any previous BBE on every make and model of bike you could think of.....way cool. So much fun riding in such short time. Between zig zagging each other during the mini rally, catching up to each other on the gravel playing games, to watching everyone trying to throw rings around an orange road cone. BTW it's not as easy as you would think but it was a barrel of laughs and cheers. Some pretty skilled riders also. Jim on his Triumph and Jayd on his Intruder. Yes not the most suitable rides for this adventure but you wouldn't know it watching those two guys ride the gravel. Mind you I'm not a great off road rider but when I can't catch Jayd's Intruder on a KLR thru a twisty washed out no maintenance road (not low maintenance nooooo maintanance) with a tree laying across it around a blind corner you know he has skills. Maybe Alvin or Lapchik got some GoPro video of that section of road? After that road I was very thankful of Rich's offer to let me ride his KLR. I might still be out there trying to get thru on the shadow....lol
What a fun day with 11 really fun riders!!!!!!!

The weather was perfect despite Marlene's prediction of cold temps. I hope Jack gave you my hug and message. Tongue

Next stop on the fun train will be The Buffalo Run on Sept 1 in North Sioux, SD (part of the greater Sioux City "area" Smile )

Get your entries in so Frump can get a head count for t-shirts and plan for meals.

Hope to see everyone there!!!!! and that it's warm enough for Marlene to make it Dodgy

RE: BBE
I knew I would forget something. Thank you (I think) St Rich for letting us use your car and trailer for a chase vehicle. Sharon still braggs to people about how nice it was. I just hope she doesn't go shopping.
We also gave out playing cards at the end of 4 legs(only had one deck)and who ever had the best hand got a gift card from Fun Sports. The winner was Cruzin with two pair.

RE: BBE
Thanks Dave and Sharon for a great time! The food was delish and the riding was even better! I know it takes time, effort and $ to put together an event like this, and you did it a fantastic job. Thanks to your friends and family for letting us use their homes as checkpoints, and to Rich for the spiffy chase vehicle and supplying the petrol. Also thanks to Shooter and Lapchik for letting me crash their "Brokeback campground dance party."

I have forwarded the RoTY numbers to Frump for posting, but I assume he's still under the haze of Dave's Capt Morgan bartending.

Here's the top 10 for ROTY

Jim Weatherhead 144pts
Chad Churchill 141pts
Alvin Bertram 135 pts
Rich Reid 117 pts
Jayd Lindom 108 pts
Charles Turner 96 pts
Jeff Kerkow 92 pts
Don Q 82pts
Carol Hauck 74 pts
Kory Morehead 68 pts

RE: BBE
Dave and Sharon,

Thanks for a great weekend!!!!!!! It was a SUPER fun BBE filled with many challenges.
I was glad to be able to help out how I did. Sharon looks awful cute in a white car Dave Smile
Shooter, you will have figure out what bike you can borrow for the next event ;-)

The little mini rally around town was a hoot on the Husky, I am thinking that will be the only rally that bike ever attampts Smile
All the gravel roads were fun to chase up and down and the washed out section was a hoot!

Camping with everyone was a blast. It is always nice to hang out and spend a little time with friends!

Ride safe all,

Rich
