Moab 2013
A few of us GLMC members went to Utah last week. Full ride report to follow but here is a quick sample

RE: Moab 2013
OK here is my attempt at a ride report. Rich suggested way back last fall that we should go to Moab Utah in the Spring so we could demonstrate our spectacular off road skills. Smile

It was not hard to find some willing participants. It was determined we would need room for six bikes. So the first order of business was to get the trailer prepared. I have helped a cousin for many years on his farm. This allowed me to use his trailer. It is my cousin Les in the Cat T-shirt

We loaded five bikes in the trailer and headed to Brookings SD to pick up our final adventurer.

In Brooking we picked our last bike. No wasted space.

Pictured above is our crew ready to head for Utah. Notice the happy faces. Left to Right, Rich, Penny, Myself, Joane, and Bryan, we are to meet Beth and Scott in Moab.

On our way out we had to stop at the wayside in Chamberlain SD. This overlooks the Missouri River. If you are going this way be sure out be sure to stop the view is great.

The drive out was a very long way and the smiles started to fade away.

But all long drives end with a great breakfast.

We arrived at the campsite and the unloading began. We always need supervision

Scott and Beth enjoying the desert riding

Joane and Penny started collecting GT points

The scenery is spectacular

Joane went to Four Corners while the rest of us explored the back roads

Moab is a great area I would highly recommend it for anyone.

RE: Moab 2013
Did you do the Moki Dugway? From what Shooter and Sleddog have told me, it is a must drive road.

Did not get to the Moki Dugway. Way to many must drives for the one week we were out there. Already planning a return trip next year.

If you have room in your trailer I would be interested.

Looks like a blast, Jeff! Been a long time since I've had an off-road bike, but this looks mighty tempting. Someday maybe, maybe maybe......

With all the email I've been getting and reading ride reports, I think I have to make this my next vacation. Assuming that the group goes out there again. Feel like I'm missing out this year

RE: Moab 2013
We had a great time in Moab this year. I would love to go back next Spring, but I know it's a long trip from MN/SD. We are planning to come back from Arizona and will probably plan to ride Moab April 5-11, 2015. I think this dates avoid the Jeep Jamboree too. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join us.

Here's a few pictures, I sure didn't take many photos this year. http://s1102.photobucket.com/user/otrtai...oab%202014

Thanks to Jeff, Rich and Jack for all the assistance, planning and transportation! I know it couldn't have been easy!

Ever try to do anything physical at that height? The walk to the top of Mt. Evans from the parking lot about killed me.

Yes, Jeff one week later works better for me. I thought the jeeps left on Easter? Easter 2015 is
April 5. Either way, we'll be there.

RE: Moab 2013
So I can start planning now . . .what is the average cost per person for that trip, and how long are you out there? I only get 1 week of vacation per year plus a few personal days right now.

You are going to need a new job with more vacation Smile

We are putting together the final costs for fuel in the next couple days.
