Hotel Winneshiek has a room in Decorah.

If it's not reproducible, it didn't happen.

RE: 2019 Bonzai Rally
Don is correct, Decorah' motels are full from graduations at the college.
I found a cute motel in Postville just 10 miles away from Ossian. They said they still have several room available. Pines Motel 563-864-7531
Postville is a town on 2000 so I am sure they have a bar and liquor store Angel

I plan on arriving in Postville around 5pm and would be looking for people to have dinner with, if any of you may also be staying in Postville. Let me know if you might also be in the area to join me for dinner. Looks like there is a Mexican place and a Pizza place.

I have a snaffu. My bike is being held hostage in a shop. On Tuesday I was riding the Dakota County Training area and my bike lost power. I had to tow it to SSB (Simple Street Bikes) in Eden Prairie. They said I need a new Stator and battery. So they ordered the stator and IF I am lucky I might get my bike back in time for Memorial Weekend, but I am not counting on it. I am hoping I get it back in time to Iron Butt it to Hyder. I will know more as the weekend approaches.

I am looking at a gravel route on my dr650. Just put new knobbies on it, so don't want to burn them up on paved foads Tongue
Looking like some really interesting gravel East of Decorah.

RE: 2019 Bonzai Rally
Don,
How and when will the bonus locations be delivered? Will they be electronic, with or without GPS concordances, and will we see anything the night before?

Thanks,
Del

RE: 2019 Bonzai Rally
Locations will be given out Sunday morning at the riders meeting in the Rally packet. No electronic files.. They will have addresses and GPS coordinates that are as close as any old guy with limited computer skills can get.

RE: 2019 Bonzai Rally
Big Jim, Original Randy and I are coming to ride the Bonzai. We will be riding as a group (please note my class change Don). We will be attempting to run a flower sniffing, scenic, good road rally route. Don, would it be possible for you could provide a list or indication of which nearby 5 or 7 bonuses are the most must see or must try this road bonuses? We have already made a pork tenderloin sandwich at Breitbach's in Balltown, Iowa one of our stops (whether on Don's secret bonus sheets or not) and will probably be adding another shopping stop at the Toppling Goliath Brewing Co in Decorah as well.

If anyone is really hard up for a room, we might be able to spare a bed at the Pines Motel in Postville (thanks for heads up Sun Flower). If anyone wants to help us pull our score down further, we have room for one more like minded rider in our group, ha.

If anyone wants to follow along here is our Spot Tracker for the weekend.

We are also going to Breitbach's but it will not be during the rally. We may head out today.

I would recommend going to bonus #1, 3, 9, 11, 18 and 42. Not sure if that's doable in 10 hours but they look like some neat boni!

42 I'm sure you have been to because we have used it on a lot of Bonzai Rallies. 18 is a really fun road to get there especially if you come from the south and head north into town Big Grin

I'll be to the hotel sometime Saturday afternoon and vote for Mexican for dinner.

Sunday I'm heading to Pete's for lunch in Prairie du Chien, I'm sure Darryl will be there tooBig Grin
