RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
A sign is located that has name of the airport on it and is the name of a town beginning with the letter G-L-M-C.

However the sign is at an access road to the airport and has an arrow on it pointing the direction one needs to go on the access road to get to the airport

Quesion...do signs at or near the airport with an arrow on them count?

TIA

RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
I'm a little confused. Not a big surprise. In the rules under General Locations it states that the Town names must start with G.L.M. or C. But in the Sample location list Martinsville Speedway in Ridgeway, VA is listed. My question is am I looking for Mary's Speedway, Dundas, MN or Sue's Speedway, Medford, MN? Thank you.

TRAIN STATIONS
I thought I posted this question earlier, but I do not see it in the questions.

In the TRAIN STATIONS category, it appears many of the AMTRAK stations are no more than a bus type shelter. They are signed with the city name (G-L-M-C only ones that count) and it is a location where passengers get on the train and disembark.

Do these type locations count?

If not, it appears it will be slim pickings for Train Station locations.

i asked a similar question via email yesterday, using the Columbus, OH airport which is titled Rickenbacker International. no signs say "Columbus". and the domestic airport in Columbus is "John Glenn Airport" which i guess would count either way for a "C" or a "G".
i also asked for clarity of "town" as a lot, and i mean a lot, of rural civil airports are named for the county or the property associated not a "town"

Reason given by RM was because New Hampshire, Thunder Valley & Viking are not town names.

Accepted:
Atwater Karting Speedway, Atwater MN

the one not accepted should have been not accepted for not being a G L MC as the one that is accepted is not a G L M C either

so, now i am totally confused

Not Accepted:
New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Loudon NH
Thunder Valley Dragway, Marion SD
Viking speedway, Alexandria MN
Reason given by RM was because New Hampshire, Thunder Valley & Viking are not town names.

Accepted:
Grove Creek Raceway, Grove City MN
Atwater Karting Speedway, Atwater MN

My understanding is that the town name needs to directly linked to the facility. So, in my case, South Grafton Airport at Grafton is acceptable, but Clarence Valley Region Airport at Grafton (about 10 km to the east) is not acceptable.

Down under has it right.

Town name must be a G L M or C name, and be in the name of the facility.

Martinsville speedway was a bad example. It would not count as it is in the town of Ridgeway.

RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
In planning my GT rides, most of the bonus locations have been straight forward. For example Macksville Train Station is right in the middle of the township of Macksville.

However, I have run into a problem for some Bonus locations. For example, if I use Google Maps, Maitland Airport is shown as being in Rutherford, but Rutherford is a suburb of the city of Maitalnd.

The reason I can say this is because, both Rutherford & Maitland share the same PostCode (Zipcode).

Using the Martinsville Speedway as another example, the Speedway Zipcode is 24148, Ridgeway township is 24148 and Martinsville township is 24112, so the Speedway is in Ridgeway not Martinsville.

Is it acceptable to use the PostCode as a way to tie a bonus location to a town/city. ??

RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
These posts have me even more confused then I was before.

If the airport sign literally says "Atwater Karting Speedway, Atwater MN", how does it qualify?

RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
I would not think that the Atwater Speedway @ Atwater would qualify as it does not meet the G. L. M. C. requirement.

My wild guess is that the RM was having a small "senior's moment" when he posted it.

OK, Georges GoKart Track , Medford, MN would count, as I understand it. Both business and town starts with GLMC. Or does it need to be Medford GoKart Trak, Medford, MN where the town name is in both??

Working from a phone sucks. I have a new computer to set up tonight.

Atwater speedway is no good. Town name on sign is a must, and must be g l m or c TOWN name

From the rules:
General Locations worth 1 point each. Town names must start with a G, L, M, or C.
○ Any airport (active airports, no museums)
○ Any train station (active stations, no museums)
○ Any racetrack (go-kart, motocross, NASCAR, drag strip, etc.)
○ 9/11 memorials* (see note in planes combo below)

George's GoKart Track, Medford, MN would count. M for Medford.
I don't specify that the town name has to be in the track name. If the town name is in the name of the track, that is ok too but is still just 1 point.

If anyone is still confused on the rules, I am sorry. I had a little fall resulting in two fractured ribs and a concussion and am just today feeling like I'm back to normal brain activity [normal for me anyway] and no more random blurred vision. You can always call/text me at 320-304-5593 for on-the-fly clarifications too. Email is korymorehead@gmail.com, and I have forwarding set up for the other club email addresses so I will see anything sent there as well.

Special Combo Locations
Special Combo Locations
I need some clarification on the Special Combo Locations part of the tour.

As an example under Automobiles combo it states, "Any Automobile Museum."
How many automobile museums are we allowed to submit? Just 1 (one) to meet that combo category for 3 points? Or 10 automobile museums and receive 3 points for each one?

Asked another way...once a rider claims any automobile museum they are done...no more visits for points to other automobile museums. Once I get a route 66 marker sign along the original route...that is it; no need to hunt for anymore.

Or asked another way: For the Trains combo there are only 3 sites you get points for. Just visit Golden Spike, Mid-continent Railway Museum, and ONE train car on display in a town and you are done. Do not submit 100 caboose photos!

Only one each for the special combo locations. You can send 100 caboose photos, but only one will count.

RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
Would I be able to get a clarification on the situation where a G,L,M,C town has 2 distinct and separate railway facilities.

Is that 1 point or 2 points ??

RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
So only one general per category per GLMC town. If Glenwood, MN had a motocross track, train station, airport and a 9/11 memorial that would be 4 points ? If Glenwood, MN had a go-kart track, motocross track, and a race track that is only 1 point no matter if I turn in all 3 photos ?
