RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
Hoping not to confuse anyone. My question was: Only 1 general per category ( airport, train station, race track, 9/11 memorial) per G,L,M,C town. Which is correct. If you run across a town with more than one airport, train station, race track or 9/11 memorial. Only 1 of each general category counts in that town.

RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
Don: If Glenwood, MN had a motocross track, train station, airport and a 9/11 memorial that would be 4 points ?
Kory: Correct

Don: If Glenwood, MN had a go-kart track, motocross track, and a race track that is only 1 point no matter if I turn in all 3 photos ?
Kory: Correct

Kory hypothetical situation: If you turn in If Glenwood, MN go-kart track, race track, motocross track, train station, airport and a 9/11 memorial that is 4 points. Only one race track counts.

RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
My head hurts just thinking about all these combinations and variations.

I think I might go and have a nap, then afterwards, I'll un-do all the changes I made to my ride plans this morning based on my incorrect interpretation of the Rules.

Then, I'm going to try and find an on-line reading comprehension course because I clearly need it.

Is it 1-March yet ??

I swear I didn't try to make it complicated on purpose. Next time I will add more to the rules in the way of explanations and examples. Or create a simpler event.

RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
My guess is that even if you added another 100 rules or explanations, you would just end up with 100 more questions.

Now that I've had my nap, and taken a quick on-line reading comprehension class, I think I've got my head around all of it and have finalised my ride plans.

Is it 1-March yet ??

RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
Questions on what qualifies

To me the confusing part of the rule is "Town names must start with a G, L, M, or C." when we are referring to airports, train stations, race tracks and 9/11 memorials since the name of these may not have the town name in them, so is it the name of the facility that needs G, L, M, or C (what we can photo document) or the town in which they are located?

Examples

sign "Mountain Ave. Station", location Montclair, NJ, "M" in the sign but it is not the town name, but town name in which it is located also starts with "M", does this qualify?

sign "Pocono Raceway", location Long Pond, PA, no "G, L, M or C" in the sign, but the town in which is is located in starts with "L", does this qualify?

And it seems that the "G, L, M or C" requirement does not apply to the combo locations, given the examples of National Motorcycle Museum as it nor the town it is located in has "G, L, M or C".

The specific combo locations are exactly that, specific locations. Town does not matter.

Both examples you gave would count.

If you had Goodyear raceway in San Francisco, it would not count as town name doesn't start with GLMC and Goodyear is not the name of the town.

Post #23 might help you out too.

RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A
I think Post #14 spells it out even clearer.

(02-04-2022 06:44 PM)Lapchik Wrote:  From the rules:
General Locations worth 1 point each. Town names must start with a G, L, M, or C.
○ Any airport (active airports, no museums)
○ Any train station (active stations, no museums)
○ Any racetrack (go-kart, motocross, NASCAR, drag strip, etc.)
○ 9/11 memorials* (see note in planes combo below)

George's GoKart Track, Medford, MN would count. M for Medford.
I don't specify that the town name has to be in the track name. If the town name is in the name of the track, that is ok too but is still just 1 point.

I email them out as I get registrations. If anyone needs a replacement I can dig through my sent items and email another copy.

Don't mean to beat a dead horse, but the one I am riding is still kicking

Have the following which I believe would count 1 point in all circumstances. The town name if not included in the name of the airport may not necessarily be included in the sign.

Turner Falls Airport in Montague MA works because Montague starts with "M" where the airport is located.

Hanscom Field is located in Lincoln MA works because Lincoln starts with "L" where the airport is located.

Kline Kill Airport in Ghent, NY works because Ghent starts with "G" where the aiport is located.

Orange County Airport in Montgomery NY works because Montgomery begins with "M" where the aiport is located.

Wurtsboro Airport in Mamakating NY works because Mamakating begins with "M" where the aiport is located.

Greenwood Lake Airport is located in Greenwood Lake works because Greenwood Lake begins with "G" where the aiport is located. According to Wikipedia Greenwood Lake is a village in Orange County, New York, United States, in the southern part of the town of Warwick.

Sugarloaf Rgnl Airport in Carrabassett Valley ME works because Carrabassett Valley begins with "C" where the aiport is located.

Albert S Nader Regional Airport in Laurens Twn NY works because Laurens Twn begins with "L" where the aiport is located.

Greenwood Lake Airport is in West Milford, NJ.

126 Airport Rd, West Milford, NJ 07480

Here is a great example of why going by the "town name" can be tricky.

Morristown Airport
8 Airport Road
Morristown, NJ 07960

Looks good, but it's in Hanover Township, NJ despite the name and mailing address so it should not count.

Another thing to keep in mind...

1) this is for fun
2) it's not a huge grand prize
3) if you get the required minimum points, you get the shirt
4) will the rally master research all of the hundred to thousands of pictures submitted?

RE: 2022 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A Combos
Need clarification Combos
In each Combo there are

Plane Combo: Any 9/11 memorial
Plane Combo: Any other airplane historical site, museum, or memorial
Trains combo: Any train car inside a town, for display, and not on an active railway.
Automobiles combo: Any automobile museum (Pioneer Auto Museum, Henry Ford Museum, etc.)
Motorcycles combo: Any other motorcycle museum (Sturgis Museum, National Motorcycle Museum, etc.)

I assume none of these need to adhere to the G L M C qualitfication ?
