Well that sure is a comprehensive plan! Looks like a winning strategy. The Selfie Stick technique is an excellent way to manage the "flag".

RE: My 2023 Grand Tour Activity
If we want a "winning strategy", then we may need to ask Bill Collins (Mass) to share his approach.

If I read the results pages correctly, Mr Collins finished in 1st place in 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020/21 and 2022, and in his "off years", he finished 3rd & 4th. Last year, his score was more than 3 times the 2nd place score. (280 v 89).

To paraphrase the famous scene from the movie " When Harry Met Sally ", I want what he's having . . .because he is onto a winning formula.

If you need a dose of insanity, ask Shooter about his 2012 run through the US and Canada.

RE: My 2023 Grand Tour Activity
Interesting read so far. I can see where this can definitely be a bit of a challenge for some entrants. I'm blessed, I suppose, to live in a very target rich environment but have run into the same issue you mention. In larger cities there are often multiple murals so close I can only utilize 1 out of 4 possibilities. I do have though several "barn quilt mural trails" in neighboring counties that let me do more rural riding yet still yield a decent number of results. We're just coming into Spring here in Pennsylvania but had an abnormally mile winter so I've been out at least one day of each weekend so far.

That's a good trip. I'll have to head south to bag some of those. I lived in Barraba for 7 years, long before the beautiful mural and the silo art.

You need hippo hands! Best thing you can get for your bike for cold weather rides.

You are probably right, but I think they would hit the fuel tank on my bike (Kawasaki N1K).

They are flexible fabric. They hit my tank and tankbag also, but they move out of the way and only hit when at full lock.

"They either die on the spot or just continue as though nothing had happened. Fortunately, I fell into the second group."

To say that day took a hard left turn is an understatement.
