2024 Grand Tour Speculation
Someone else can have a turn running it in 2024. I have a good motorcycle now, so I want to ride the next one! Some ideas I had for a theme if anyone wants to run with it....
Compass headings, towns with N/S/E/W in it. Capitols, different point values for township meeting hall-1, county courthouse-2, state capitol-5, nation's capitol-10. Don't know how that works out for our Aussie and Canadian riders though. Geology, town names with geological features like hill, mound, valley, island, etc. No water stuff like lake, river, rapids because we already did that theme. Living in the past, historical markers http://www.youtube.com/korysrides |

I love finding roadside fiberglass nightmare fuel. So rarely are they actually well made.
The Nyberg park in Vining is a place I stop at every single time. Get my teriyaki jerky from the gas station and wander around. http://www.youtube.com/korysrides |

RE: 2024 Grand Tour Speculation
In the sci-fi movie "The Wrath of Khan", Spock says that “logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.”
In 2023, Internationals made up about 6% of the participants (although we did achieve 20% of the Top 10 places), so logic clearly suggests that the needs of the many (USA riders) outweigh the needs of the few (Internationals). My suggestion is to design a Grand Tour that caters for USA riders, and then we can look and see if it can be "converted" for Internationals. May be it can / may be it can't. Time will tell. |

RE: 2024 Grand Tour Speculation
So are you Khan in this scenario, because you know, Australia prison joke and Khan being in exile . . .or are you Spock?
Because they did save Spock one ok movie and one lame movie about whales later. And it's not like the ship [club] is in danger of coming apart. We have been and always shall be your friend. http://www.youtube.com/korysrides |

RE: 2024 Grand Tour Speculation
From a historic perspective, I guess we (Aussies) would be "Khan" the exile/convict, but in the context of this discussion, I had "Spock" in mind (few compared to many).
However, Oz and the US share many things in common, some better known than others, and may be, just may be, we are all exiles. The British established a Penal Colony in Oz in 1778 because the American War of Independence, which had started in 1775 and which had resulted in the British having no where else to send their convicts when the British jails were full. In fact, between 1718 ~ 1775, over 52,000 British convicts were sent to what was then known as British America, and which later became the United States of America. If the American patriots had lost the War of Independence, Oz would not have been settled by the British, and we would have become a French colony instead. ' Vive la République ' I say, while Spock would have said ' Live Long and Prosper ' |

I like that. Easy one year, more difficult the next.
Q probably isn't all that difficult, really. X on a sign with a town name of any letter? There are a couple Z's in Minnesota, but maybe a wild card for that too. http://www.youtube.com/korysrides |

Could do a twist on that, spell out "Glacial Lakes Motorcycle Club Grand Tour Twenty Four," using the the first letter of a motorcycle dealer, motorcycle repair shop, motorcycle parts store sign, that's 45 locations. Additional points for a sign of each motorcycle brand (BMW, Honda, Indian, etc) at the dealer (each brand only counted once for all locations), that should add at least an additional 20 or so points. |
