Streets and Trips Discontinued?
I saw that Streets and Trips was discontinued . . .is that true? I have basecamp too, but I don't know how to use it. Do I start learning basecamp now, or is there something better out there?

On basemap you can make your waypoints into little pirate faces . . .good news for this year's GT

Yep discontinued, We had a training session on Basecamp at the COG rally and it actually is pretty powerful. It is just is different. I picked up a copy of the last Streets & Trips from eBay.

It's not a competition, It's a demonstration. "Rowan"

RE: Streets and Trips Discontinued?
It'll be years before the roads change enough that S&T & Mapsource become useless as route planning tools.

I've found Basecamp cumbersome. But truthfully everytime I try to use it I get frustrated quickly & revert to what I know.

I haven't used or tried this software but, it seems to be getting good reviews, as a trip planning tool. http://www.tyre.tk/

A few years ago we had a "March Mapness" seminar. Jeff, with your recent "Education" & Propforwards knowledge of the use of Basecamp how about organizing something for the Spring kickoff meeting in Hutch?

Thoughts?

RE: Streets and Trips Discontinued?
If you want to do a Basecamp seminar I'd be happy to be involved if you like, and share what I know. I find basecamp a pretty useful tool - but it sure doesn't drive like anything else in the software world, which is why most people hate it.

I'm odd, which is probably why I can deal with Basecamp.

It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem.

Get started learning BASECAMP. It's actually quite a good program if you have lots of individual maps. Some nice features to export into usable files for your GPS.

I tried to like and use S & T,,, so i'm glad it has been discontinued! My
routing preference is Delorme Street Atlas. Its not directly compatible with Garmin, But in todays' "I-T" world, only Basecamp is compatible.

Propforward, are you available to move forward with planning & presenting a Basecamp seminar? Would it work to plan for the presentation to be held at the Spring Kickoff meeting in Hutchinson?

Yes - just checked my calendar and I'm open that day. I'll put something together to cover the key points.

Goody goody. I may use my own netbook pooter, just because that is set up to work with my GPS etc, but definitely bring your computer as well. It will be important for people to be able to see stuff on screen so that they can understand what is going on.
