Offroad Poker Run
Which class do I sign up for to get ROTY points? How long is each lap of the easy course? Distance, not time.

RE: Offroad Poker Run
More information would be great. The announcements section has a flyer and says there will be a 1 hr easy course, and a 2 hour open course. Just wondering what sort of skill level each course is. Also, if there is an obstacle that a bike can't make it up/over/through is there just a time penalty or how does that work? I like my CRF250L but it's no Erzberg Rodeo bike.

Also, just sign up at the event? I don't see anywhere to pre-register. Also, the link on the rally page for Q&A leads to the announcements section, where only admins can post instead of to here where everyone can post. The date on that page does not show the same one as the flyer does.

1. Beth's 140 and Don's 125 can make it around your CRF will have no problems. The rider might but the bike will do just fine. I'll even prove it to you, just let me on it Wink

2. There is no pre-signing up for the Poker Run.

3. Distance of the courses is not known until they set it up the Saturday before. The long course is normally about 2.5 miles, not sure how big the RotY course will be, that is the one hour event.

4. Being the nice guy I am I usually set up a practice session a couple weeks before hand, weather permitting for anybody that wants to check out the area. I will not know the entire course but I can get you pretty close at least for the harder areas.

RE: Offroad Poker Run
Well, and if you want to do the 2 hour, remember, you can always take a nice lunch break and cut it to 1 1/2 hour event.

RE: Offroad Poker Run
I'm going to setup the one hour course arounnd the perimiter of the sandpit area, use the MX track, and the tight stuff around the slough. No big sandhills! This will also be the course for the Jr Scrambles class, so it will be much easier than in the past, but still entertaining.

I expect it to be a little over a mile long.

The two hour course will be geared towards the guys who regularly do Hare Scrambles. There will be no mercy!

Signup wll be at the event.

As soon as the snow melts, we will be doing some setup.

RE: Offroad Poker Run
My truck died this weekend, so it should be quite an adventure driving 200 miles each way on my 300lb knobby tired Honda 250. Going to leave around 5AM, but I'll be there!

Just saw that the event has been postponed. Living up here really sucks.

Good news for me, maybe I can get the truck fixed before then so I don't have to ride on a 4" wide seat for 12 hours that day.

If you change the oil in it before you go and leave some collateral, I'm sure we can work something out.

I could put it on the trailer and haul it up for you Mike. Smile
I rode it a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. Still waiting to see the riding/shooting videos from the GoPro.

RE: Offroad Poker Run
Thanks for the offers guys but I'd have a hard time riding a brand new off road bike. I usually ride beyond my skills when I head off road, and those skills are limited. I'd feel real bad taking a fall and scratching/denting a nice new bike up.

I'm working on purchasing a bike for this event from a coworker, he still hasn't figured out if he wants to sell or not yet.

I felt bad the first time I dropped it. Then i dropped it again. Then I bent the brake pedal around 180 degrees. Then I dropped it again. Then I smashed the skid plate 3 times super hard. Now I don't feel so bad about flying through trees and scratching the plastic.

I would like to ride that 250, if I can be there, sounds like a neat bike.
