RE: Total Eclipse
I am looking at probably going to Beatrice NE. for the weekend. There is only a minute or so difference between Kentucky and Nebraska. I will then have the opportunity to ride east or west if it is cloudy.

Some other events if you so desire to be closer to the Epicenter thanks to Frump

Monday Night - All you can eat Catfish and Frog Legs at https://www.yelp.com/biz/stricklands-seafood-paducah - Eclipse Time 6:22 - 6:24 PM.

The other two options?

https://www.yelp.com/biz/parkers-drive-in-paducah

... and a cheap, nice place to sleep right in line with eclipse: https://www.yelp.com/biz/barren-creek-cottages-golconda

RE: Total Eclipse
I have contacted the park manager for here http://outdoornebraska.gov/rockford/ they do not take reservations it is first come first serve. He said the electric sites do fill up but if you don't need electricity he said he will find a place for you. I plan to take off from here with the RV Saturday morning Joane and I should arrive late afternoon. If others are coming let me know we can have a pot luck or something.

RE: Total Eclipse
I am considering this trip, I would come on Sunday, stay at Shooters house (if you have room for me yet) and then travel to see the eclipse. May stay over (at Shooters) Monday. I have a rally in Alexandria, MN till Sunday, and it is too early to tell if I leave on Monday or Tuesday from the Eclipse.
Can't miss the big Eclipse and see all of you guys all in one trip!

RE: Total Eclipse
Yes Carol I have room!!! It's only 2 hours from my house to where LSGiant will be camping and only 2.5 miles off I-80. I can whip up a dinner or two also if we are back at the house. Better than spending money eating out on junk food. Wink

Can wait to see it dark during the day.....kinda freaky

I just realized the eclipse was on Monday....lol

doesn't change anything for me or people staying at my house but might be smart to be ready when they get here. I never claimed to be the brightest crayon in the box. Wink

RE: Total Eclipse
Not sure if I will get there Saturday or Sunday, but I'll be staying until Tuesday morning if I can work it out. Camping sounds fun - brats, beverages and howling at the moon. Camping in my "RV" if I can get all the stupid Asian beetles out by then... ask Sleddog.

RE: Total Eclipse
If'n y'all is lookin for a place to pitch a tent (that's the best suthun I can do) down around Paducah I have a place for you.. I happened to be married to a wonderful lady who just happens to have a nice farm 3 miles west of the the first exit after you cross the river into KY, entering Paducah.

Oh, and Strickland's Seafood is a good place!! I haven't been to Starnes, but I have their BBQ sauce (more like a hot sauce) in my fridge as I type this..

Anyway, I'll be down there at this time and she's not loves company, she's a camper and has no issue riding her GS all day long, so everyone would be more than welcome.

Y'all

RE: Total Eclipse
I took Friday and Monday off so far. I'll probably head home Monday afterwards. I'll be camping in Marne, IA Thursday night, Friday and maybe Saturday for the Baxter Cycle Open House celebration, then head over to Nebraska Sunday sometime. Anyone who want's to join me and the other campers in Marne is welcome. My friend Line Rider is bringing 2 or 3 kegs of his home brew this year. There are clean flushing his and hers bathrooms with sinks, and a garden hose near by for showering (in a swim suit). Camping in the city park is free, there are usually 20 to 40 people camping there. I always have a good time there. You can try out new Triumph Motorcycle with demo rides.

RE: Total Eclipse
You can camp on the side of the road next to the park (3rd Street north of ball field) or drive it down into the park there under the trees. I don't think anyone is going to care. We park our bikes on the basket ball courts. LineRider drives his camper-van down under the trees in the park. The road north of the park plenty wide - it's kind of a 1-lane street anyways. Some of the big RVs and trailers which show bike park/camp on Jefferson St NE of the park. You also park/camp in the alley between Jefferson St. and Franklin St.

You will want to move camper Sunday morning from streets next to the park so you can get out of town easily, the park starts get'n busy at about 10 AM Sunday when they start setting up for the bike show and free lunch. They normally draw a few hundred in for that and the streets next to the park get crowded with people parking wherever they can.

Here are some of the photo collections I have from there (not the best photos):
