There should be a t-shirt option on there now. TOWNSHIPS - JohnF - 01-02-2024 09:47 PM In the original rules for the Grand Tour, under the first heading of "2024 Theme you include "townships" in the list of objects to find. In your clarification on 12/31/2023, Post #15 on the Discussion board you mention nothing of Townships. Are Township names with a viable compass point in them still elgible? Quite often there is a township office or service center that might have signage that counts. This cemetery is located in Center Creek Township. A better example would be to find an image of a building that actually has a sign on it that says, "East Nowhere Township Office." Question is a compass direction named townships with a sign that is located in the boundaries of the township and that name good? John F Cincinnati, OH RE: 2024 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Lapchik - 01-02-2024 11:52 PM I'd go with the official rules sheet. http://glmc.org/2024-Grand-Tour-Rules.pdf RE: 2024 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Willie - 01-03-2024 04:07 AM (01-01-2024 07:58 AM)Lee_0123 Wrote: We are intending on providing T Shirts to the finishers. Lee B. RE: 2024 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Lee_0123 - 01-09-2024 05:37 PM Rule Clarification I was asked an excellent question this morning. Does visiting a town with the name of just "Center" or "Centre" count as one point or two? This town meets both the compass point criteria and the name starts with a G, L, M, or a C (GLMC). It should count as 2 points. However, the GLMC point can only be used once per town name. As an example the town of "Center Leeville" would score 1 point for the compass bearing and one GLMC point for either the C or the L but not both. So this example would score 2 points not 3. RE: 2024 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Lee_0123 - 01-21-2024 07:19 PM EMAIL PHOTO SUBMISSION When you submit a photo for scoring via email the email needs to include: Your Name Your Rider Number Points being claimed for each "town" Photo name(s) If there two photos for the same location, for example a distance shot and a close up shot, both photos need to the town name first followed by an "A" or 1, and the second name first followed by a "B" or a 2. Photos with names like IMG_0123. JPG that have been submitted before 1/22 will be modified for you. New photos with IMG_0123. JPG will not be modified by the Rally team and may not be scored. What if a township, who's name starts with N, W, E, or S, is in a village who's name starts with the same compass point? My example is this - Northfield Township has its highway department shop in the village of Northbrook, IL. These are two different, but overlapping, government entities. Would I be able to claim one point for the Northfield Township sign, and one point for a sign at like say, the Northbrook Village Hall, in Northbrook? Or would I be limited to just one sign, either the township or the village hall, in Northbrook? Oh, and another ponder... Northfield Township's offices are in the village of Northfield. What about that one? RE: 2024 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Lee_0123 - 01-25-2024 07:22 AM I'm pondering it. RE: 2024 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Lee_0123 - 01-26-2024 09:39 AM Orbit: Since the Northfield Township's highway department shop is inside the boundaries of Northbrook you can only claim the one point for Northbrook. Since the Northfield Township's offices are inside the boundaries of the village of Northfield you can only claim the one point for Northfield. RE: 2024 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Willie - 02-07-2024 03:20 PM I have seen many town halls, libraries, schools, etc with signs with the Town Name instead of letters mounted to the buildings. Are these signs acceptable for the tour ?? Are these signs acceptable for the tour ?? As I see it according to post #3 of this thread they do NOT count for this event. If they did my life would be much simpler...... RE: 2024 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Lee_0123 - 02-09-2024 10:02 AM Willie - yes, they can count as a sign for a town. You need to be careful when using alternate signs. Chuck's example in post 3 is a good one. If you look at the picture it says "United States Post Office, Saint Paul Minnesota, North Saint Paul Branch". It clearly states it is in the city of Saint Paul. Therefore it does not count. RE: 2024 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Lapchik - 02-09-2024 01:54 PM So, to be very clear: single piece printed/painted signs with town name are ok letters mounted to a building constitute a sign and are ok Post #3 is not ok because the building is physically located in St. Paul .....right? RE: 2024 GLMC Grand Tour Q&A - Lee_0123 - 02-12-2024 05:42 AM Kory Correct Just to clarify, the signs do not have to be mounted on a building or structure. They can be mounted on posts or poles as well. It's kinda weird, tho, as the St. Paul Post Office services North St. Paul, hence the goofiness of that branch P.O. sign. But, fear not! North St. Paul's municipal building is but a couple three blocks NE of the post office, at 2400 Margaret St. N. |
