RE: 2014 Grand Tour Questions
OK, I'll behave.

From what I understand that is one point for the double "e"s. But I could be wrong.

I am also assuming and confirmed from another post that something like Ashippin, Old Ashippin, South Ashippin, North Ashippin will all count for one point as well. Or am I wrong?

RE: 2014 Grand Tour Questions
I just got the towels yesterday. I'm going to be painting numbers this weekend so if there are any more folks on the fence it would be helpful to get the entries mailed in or email me that they are on the way.
Especially a certain *cough* Harley *cough* rider that works for *cough* google *cough*.
Got a tickle in my throat there.

RE: 2014 Grand Tour Questions
How does everyone mount their GT flags? I haven't found anything that works really well yet. All these are "just ok."

RE: 2014 Grand Tour Questions
I've been using sturdy cardboard as the backing then placing the "flag" over it, attaching with the large spring style paper clips. This gives me the advantage of adjusting/tightening the "flag" as it gets wet & wind whipped.

RE: 2014 Grand Tour Questions
I use the magnetic chip clip thingies. But this year I think I am going to go with cardboard and chip clips! I like the idea of bucking the wind.

Maybe I will just find a hot babe in a bikini to hold my tour flag for me!

First off my towel won't take to long to make since it will have only ONE digit on it. Smile

Second I bought me a KLR.... I heard all the "cool" kids were riding Kawasaki's...... well except for Lapchik!!!!!! Big Grin

Third we can't all work for the greatest company in the world...were not all Googly. Tongue

I will paypal our registration money tomorrow. Anyone want to side bet on if they can get more GT's than my 9 year old daughter Haley or Blinky? Perhaps Lapchik? Angel

RE: 2014 Grand Tour Questions
The nice thing about the chip clips is they can clip to a lot of things. More options than just the magnets. So which ever way I park I can still find a way to attach the flag.

The gas tank, like my personality is magnetic..Smile

The only problem with those clips that i have found is that if they get wet the adhesive that holds the magnets in is not waterproof.

Photo RE: 2014 Grand Tour Questions
my flag is mounted ("glued") to an 11x17 photo board. You can find the mount boards at Hobby Lobby or Michael's or just get some 3M spray glue and have at it.

It make using spring clips to the antenna or standing up by itself pretty easy. The two flags/boards are taped together so we don't lose them.

Sure, I bet you a million dollars I ride by myself to more GT's than Haley rides to by herself.

Everyone sends all the GT's they got during the year towards the end. Just make sure you get the post office stamp on it before the end date. I usually send mine a week or two before the end date of the contest.

Also, don't let Shooter drag you on a ride literally to Hell and back just to mail your entries with untested repairs on your bike.

RE: 2014 Grand Tour Questions
As Kory said, week or two before the end, burn a copy of all the photos and fire off a CD.. Very user friendly, and I try to sort them to make Mike's life as easy as possible..

This year I'm sorting by amount of points the name is worth, and then the town name..

Trying to make scoring easy..

1 shannon
1 freeport
2 charrette
2 lees summit (darned S split.. This woulda been a 3 pointer)
3 tennessee
3 ??

I foresee the future!! I see a motorcycle, with a flag, and someone taking a photo in the parking lot of this bar in Tennessee, IL during the weekend of May 17th..

https://www.google.com/maps/@40.412163,-...e0!6m1!1e1

Tennessee Tap, here I come!!

Now to find a 4 pointer!! Smile

RE: 2014 Grand Tour Questions
Well, new here to the group... Been lurking for a bit, but today I can say the check is in the mail for entry into this one. Sounds like fun and looking forward to the adventure... Now for just a bit more snow to melt!!! A nice rain to wash off some of the salt and sand would be handy too...
