RE: 2016 Buffalo Run
It wouldn't update frequently enough. WalMart has bicycle odometers for under $20. Clips to handle bars, wire down the forks, magnet on a spoke. Easy.

RE: 2016 Buffalo Run
how is a bicycle speedometer any less tamper proof than using GPS mileage counter on my phone? Whats to stop me from sliding the magnet out of position to keep my mileage down? I'm not a cheater I'm just saying. Shit on my hardtail I'd be trying to increase mileage so I didn't look so pathetic.

You can always come down and ride. Rally master will have final say on any points/odo issue.

There are a few hotels in LeMars, IA also, about a 30 minute drive from rally location.

Personally I don't see the harm in letting him compete without an odometer, would just exclude him from the efficiency award...if there is one. Unless of course you're going old school and using fuel logs.

No fuel logs. Scott, just show up and ride. There may be a odo penalty, but nothing to keep you from riding. Its going to be a fun rally.

RE: 2016 Buffalo Run
The night of the rally, if you aren't completely spent from riding, there will be a deck party at my house [in-laws house, I just live there]. Drinks, snacks, and a live band. They are celebrating being back from a long year of touring. [they do early childhood development events and speaking engagements]

They are also doing it as a free will donation fundraiser for the drum player's daughter. Andy had/has brain cancer. They operated on him and got the tumor out, but it has spread too far. They gave him about a year to live. In the mean time, Andy is playing with the band and getting things in order for his daughter.

Consider this your invitation. Everyone is welcome. 1524 Summit Street, Sioux City, IA. Come anytime after the rally awards.

As in overnight? Probably not since the in-laws decided to have the deck party that night.

RE: 2016 Buffalo Run
It's a really big deck Carol, the waterfall and pond will probably help you sleep there in a chair. I will see if I can find a driver and vehicle to shuttle.

RE: 2016 Buffalo Run
Please don't forget to register soon. We need to get t-shirts ordered on the 22nd.

You can still come after that, but your t-shirt may not fit if your lucky enough to get one. We have a great design this year, it will be a classic.

RE: 2016 Buffalo Run
We have 12 or so people signed up (not all on RideMaster), we would like to see a few more. If you want a t-shirt, please signup before August 22. I'll have a few extras, but I can't guarantee one for you after that date. If you want to come and help, let me know and send me your shirt size.

There are going to be a LOT of cool bonuses this year. The theme is "Let's all go to the movies". You may also want to sign up for the Grand Tour if your interested - there "might" be some related mini-bonuses.

Although the term pavement might be questionable in some places, all the bonuses are on paved roads this year.

I'm working on a meeting spot for Saturday night. Tentatively it looks like the back room of the Half Moon Bar and Grill (that just a mile or so south from the Harley and BMW dealerships for all you hard heads and engineering nerds, respectfully).

We have someone baking treats for us Sunday morning. We will also have bananas, coffee and juice.

The Sunday evening banquet meal thus far is Sneeky's chicken, Orig Randy and my baked beans, my coleslaw, baked potato, and desert.

How many rally's have official campgrounds? I don't know but we unofficially do. Campers and Cabineers are heading to the KOA in North Sioux City. There is a deck after party at Kory's Victorian, we will provide some kind of transport to/from if you want it.

Any other questions?
