Multiple of all of other medical professions is OK, more than one per state is OK.

I was on vacation, had a blast.
Hope people are having fun this summer.

Alex,
glad to hear you're good and had fun!!

I had a great day! First ride in a month due to work travel and weather. It was glorious!

But....

now I think we're even more confused! (the following is all in fun)

What do you have against dentists? They hurt me too, I saw Steve Martin in Little Shop of Horrors, I get it, but to single them out for us?

So 1 dentist per state but podiatrist can have 12? Therapist? Psychologist?

What scares me most is florist, I have a few...I thought

Again, glad to hear you're back and good, take care,
Rod

RE: 2018 Grand Tour Questions
Is "West Central" considered a once per state thing or not? It's not an exact location like "East Podunk".
Example: West Central Glass, West Central Cleaners, West Central Sanitation.

Also, churches with "Christ" in it. I understand variations on Baptist is a chain, but since the two examples below are different religions, are they a chain?
Examples: United Church of Christ, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

If West Central isn't a location like you say, then those are all OK.
Those different church names are OK also.

Ending Date?
Since the ending date of September 30th falls on a Sunday, any thoughts on your part of having "submissions must be post marked no later than October 1?"

Basically the timing of the day the 30th falls on eliminates that last weekend of September for riding for any more sites.

RE: 2018 Grand Tour Questions
What if the word Methodist is used in a historical marker more than once? Example: First Methodist Church in Michigan (title) with such as the Methodist Board and the Methodist missionary, etc. in text of sign. Would that be 3 points for 3 Methodists?

Correct, points for every qualifying word in the text of the historical sign.

1 point or 2? I know the word is short for festival, but "fest" has its own definition in the dictionary. It is never referred to as "August Festival" though.

1 point for largest, and 1 point for west. Do the 4 points for "largest" on the aprons in the pictures count?

I thought once you use a Chain word in a state, like Baptist, Methodist, etc etc it could not be counted again even in an historical sign. I believe John F posted a similar observation.

Now I am confused (again). Willie I reread all the post looking for my reference to using religious sects (Baptist, Methodist) in a historical marker. I could find no such reference. I believe I was referring to the use of the words on just regular signage and not HHM (Highway Historical Markers). If we can only use the "st" word when referring to a church in a HHM once per state then I have a LOT of correcting to do in my personal scoresheet and my collection of photos.

It was my initial understanding of the rules that if we found the word Baptist (etc) in a HHM used 3 times...that was 3 points.

I got the part about one Baptist, Methodist, Univeralist, etc Church per state, but now it seems an original ruling/understanding has been reversed. Willie, if you know the post # from me that you refer to, let me know.

This revised ruling is going to cost me a lot of points.

Alex, I petition that you reconsider this last ruling about the use of church sects in HHM's.

TIA,

John F

RE: 2018 Grand Tour Questions
I am OK with allowing multiple words in a historical marker.
I'd rather allow points added, than take them away.

I'm surprised you guys found multiple historical markers specifically mentioning churches.

I was going on my memory at the time I posted my remark. It may not have been you after all. Looks like I get to amend a bunch of my Markers for Baptist, Methodists, Universalists, etc etc

Will this count? It's not clear- I was too far away and couldn't tell in the camera's screen it was so out of focus.

It is Black Forest Hills Elementary School.

Also-
I have an Adventist church and an Adventist Hospital. Do they each count?

I only have 51 points and need to make sure everything counts...

Another question.

Email the spreadsheet to glmcgrandtour@gmail.com?

On my spreadsheet I have the name, date, time, location and a link to my smugmug pictures. Any more information needed?
