RE: CRF250L Sidecar
Are these videos showing up so you can click on them and watch them? They used to show up on my computer, but now they just come up as a black box. I am doing it the same way I always used to, [video=youtube] and then [/video] after the link

RE: CRF250L Sidecar
Appears to work in Firefox, just not Chrome and IE.

There are some changes coming regarding browser support for Adobe Flash (used on YouTube) in next few months. I don't know all the details yet, but you are going to have to indicate which sites can show you Flash video, with big players being automatically added (YouTube, Facebook, Yahoo, etc) in Chrome (and probably others).

Also the wars between Google, Facebook, MS and now Verizon (previously Yahoo) regarding advertising and data collection continue.

You can post URL links to videos on the YouTube site. I would do that in addition to the video tag posts anyway.

RE: CRF250L Sidecar
Seat belt or not to seat belt . . . .that is the question.

What I think:
Pros
Rowan weighs about a third of a half of feather, and it may help keep her in the seat should we hit some washboards or other pot hole type stuff on our gravel road rides
She asked for one, and I think she would feel safer and more secure with it [even if it doesn't really do anything or if I hook it up to pull loose easily]
Will keep her from hitting the front of the cockpit should we stop suddenly [she wears a helmet at all times on the bike too]

Cons
Flip over crash, she's strapped in and sticking out above the cockpit.
I've never seen a sidecar with a seat belt before
Just a lap belt may be insufficient to hold her in, might do more damage than good in a crash.

If no belt, she will get thrown away from the bike in a crash, just like I would, and not be trapped in it.

Thoughts? This is something I haven't been able to think through and come to any real decision on.

RE: CRF250L Sidecar
Did some work on the frame and body mounts. The body is MIG welded [easier to fill gaps without melting through the thin drum] and the frame is TIG welded. I'll do some close up weld pictures once I finish welding it. Most of the frame and mounts are just tacked on right now.

RE: CRF250L Sidecar
It'll be quite a while before the next update. The garage was broken into, and they stole so much. My camera, torches, both welders, the welder cart I just completed, the generator, and some power tools. There was more, but those are the big items. I am working with the police and insurance, and should have everything replaced by the end of the year. The worst part was trying to explain to Rowan that we can't do projects in the garage for a while because someone took all our tools.

RE: CRF250L Sidecar
Good news and bad news. Bad is that there are no leads on my stuff [other than my father-in-law's and my probably accurate guesses]. Good news is that insurance paid for the losses and I should start rebuilding in the next week or two.

I have my equipment back, and they didn't steal the motorcycle or any of the sidecar stuff. I should be back to building any day now! [just need to finish organizing the garage with the replacement stuff]

RE: CRF250L Sidecar
Got a little work done today. Build the pivot end of the swingarm, and tacked together the hub/spindle mount.

Working on the swingarm and shock brackets. Hopefully I can get to the garage and get them together soon.

RE: CRF250L Sidecar
Some of the pictures in previous posts have bad links. Here is the album of all the pictures I have on this project.

Updates...
Swingarm now has a poly bushing instead of bronze. Panhard bar keeps everything in check. Toe-in changes should be negligible. Up on crates; figuring out my linkages to the bike now.
