RE: Dual Sport Adventure Rally
Awesome that most people will get here before dark. Looks like Alex's wish is granted you won't get rally packs until Friday night....it's close to Saturday morning.
I'm scrambling to get done but looks like we will make it and best of all the weather is suppose to be nice!!!!!! No rain!!!!!! Like Frump a lot of the dirt roads will be easy with no rain.....some around here have been graded lately. But don't worry some have not. Can't wait to see everyone!!!!! If you have a camera please bring it....if you don't then no worries....might have to change some bonuses on the fly here. Chad "Shooter" Churchill GLMC #447 |

RE: Dual Sport Adventure Rally
I finished the morning ride packets last evening. Need to proof it one more time at lunch and then print. I'll try to be at Chad's by 7:30 tonight - work really gets in the way of me having fun or I would be there by now sitting on Chad's deck enjoying myself and waiting for everyone. I'll hand out the morning coordinates this evening and email them to everyone (for you copy-pasters).
I'm pretty excited. It sound's like Chad has some really great stuff for the afternoon and the weather is going to be just about perfect. It rained some last night so that should also help. We still have room for a few more riders. |

Totally would love to enter the event on my Tiger 800, but the event fell on a weekend when I couldn't make it. Going to keep my eye on this for next year and see if I can make it. June can be a difficult time to get a free weekend. Actually, all the good weekends fill up really fast. Glad y'all had fun. It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem. |

June can be a difficult time to get a free weekend. I didn't get to participate this year, in spite of having the weekend off! Wish I could have made it too. I've ridden extensively in the area the rally is held, It really is a fun area for Dual Sport riding. Lots of good scenic roads. DonQ & Lapchik posted a few pictures on FB. There were several cool locations. Hopefully we can spread the word & this event will grow... |

RE: Dual Sport Adventure Rally
My photos so far: http://tinyurl.com/pjylvm7 (Won't be posting them on Internet-within-the-Internet, hehe). We have been discussing some changes for next year. We are thinking about making this event more of a campout and guided tour where we provide some map routes to riders and break into groups to ride. The idea would be to show off some the coolest and most scenic spots, challenge those who need to be challenged and not those who don't. The competition, if we even have competition, would be more like an observation run and just for fun. The focus would be getting riders down some of the best roads. I'm going to talk to Chad and Jean about maybe doing a mostly paved road route in addition to a dual-sport route. I have several rider friends who I think would do this if I were lead them down some of my favorite roads. There are some really excellent paved and unpaved roads in the area. |

RE: Dual Sport Adventure Rally
I think the "guided tour" would be a good idea to attract more riders, some of whom may be intimidated or have no interest in the rally rules and competitive aspect of the event.
Although, I personally enjoy the competition aspect of the rallies. Could I make a suggestion to split the day into two parts? One half of the day would be the tour, the other half would be the scavenger hunt rally, both halves could be optional to rally-goers. |

RE: Dual Sport Adventure Rally
I got the DS Rally t-shirts ordered today. They will be on charcoal grey or pink T's. Should have them at the Barn Bike Enduro. If you can't make it to the BBE, let me know and I'll send them to you. I order a few extra. If you want one let me know. They are $12 each because of the low volume.
T-Shirt Logo I'm also working with Tom to get some new GLMC shirts ordered. I'll post details later. |

RE: Dual Sport Adventure Rally
I really wanted to make it but that weekend was no good. I hope to get there next year and compete. I have never done a competition like that and that interests me a lot. I guided tour, not so much.
Dust sucks so I'll lead. |
