RE: 2014 Grand Tour Theme
I would like it if we got away from towns and went to rural places instead

RE: 2014 Grand Tour Theme
So a theme has been found. I was actually given this idea last year but forgot about it until I found an older version of my town list spreadsheet over the weekend. Getting on with it,
All towns must have consecutive double letters anywhere in the name EXCEPT "LL". No "LL" will be allowed due to the recent "ville" GT. Each set of doubles will be worth 1 point, no limit to the number of sets in a word.
Examples of 0 points: Campbell, Browns Valley
Examples of 1 point: Wannaska, Blue Earth, Rose Creek, Correll
Examples of 2 points: Floodwood, Deer River
Examples of 3 points: Yeah like I'd make it that easy. I hope someone finds a 5 or 6 point town, that would be cool and probably worth a cool prize.

Haven't narrowed down a name yet, suggestions are welcome. I'm also putting the final touches on the official rules that I hope to send to Frump before the week is out. A change to the rules will be that I will accept local welcome to town signs (still no green highway signs) but I expect them to have character, DON"T DISAPPOINT ME!
Fire away with the questions.

RE: 2014 Grand Tour Theme
Actually pretty easy to grasp, and it sounds like a fun challenge!!!

I have Woodruff Corners only 20 miles from me, but I already know it's a Garmin town and there's no sign.. Sad

Let the games begin!!! Smile

RE: 2014 Grand Tour Theme
For theme name:
This is sort of a "half idea"
Thinking something like "Don't cross the double LLine"
Could use road lines to look like two Ls

Looking forward to participating in my first Grand Tour

RE: 2014 Grand Tour Theme
No double L anywhere? Or ville's just don't count? Lot of Valley and Falls that will get killed with that rule.

RE: 2014 Grand Tour Theme
I too like this idea and have already started marking towns. I didn't ride that much last season, my FJR's battery is dead, front tire flat, and this just might breath some new life into riding again or maybe it is just the freakin' snow we have and now I want to ride...nevertheless this is a great theme.

Yes Merrillville would count for 1 point because of the RR

No "LL" regardless of how its used.

"DupLLicate ViLLage AppeLLation Tour"

Or one which I suggested to Mike directly earlier because I thought we could get cool t-shirts and logo design with it:

The Double Down Tour

Got an idea from message from Big Johnson:

"Cannot Go To HeLL Because it Won't Count Tour"

First year of tour (USA tour) my girlfriend threatened to throw me out of the house because I was always riding off chasing tour stops!

My answer? "AGAIN?!!!" "OK, How long this time...."

No, she actually DID throw me out for 4 months before I got into riding! LOL!!!

I guess the manly thing to say is that "....then I straightened her out and we got back together...." But, uhm.....ya, I can't lie that bad! LOL!

"Seeing Double"

The real test to know when it is time for a rest when chasing down GT towns.
