. . . .and now for something completely different . . .

It's nice of Don to take time off from being a B-roll movie star and come down to play on dirtbikes with us. Found this on Netflix today.

Number 2 would be the correct location. What time you thinking about getting here LSGiant?

RE: DS ADV Rally
You won't need a camera for any rally questions, but if someone steals one of my markers, I will accept photos of the general location in place of the answer to the question. That is a reversal of what I said earlier. I will accept both camera or cell photos for this purpose. The landscapes are pretty unique so I will be able to recognize them. I'll show everyone an example marker at the rider's meeting Saturday morning.

Let's face it, you don't want to damage anyone elses KLR, so why not buy a fully farkled one of your own?

Only $2500 bucks......I'll even give you a discount to..........

$2499

It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem.

Would have been cheaper then rebuilding my WR Sad

The problem with KLR's is I have to slow down...they tend to run out of suspension to quick Big Grin For different reasons then you Prop Huh

Mine runs out of suspension because I'm too fat.

RE: DS ADV Rally
Are we allowed to carry extra fuel; such as a rotopax or similar?

Getting excited for the weekend to get here.

RE: DS ADV Rally
The official rules say:
Quote:Fuel cells must be D.O.T. approved. Marine fuel cells are not allowed. Fuel cells must be solid mounted, no tarp straps or bungee cords.

We understand this is rally is a little bit of a different animal and we will try to be somewhat flexible with this rule.

We will not be inspecting each bike, but if we see someone with a gas can bungee strapped on, that will be a no-go. We are not going to be checking to see if cells are DOT approved, but again, don't bring something which looks like it could never be DOT certified. Even if it is DOT certified (for instance a metal mower can) but it looks flimsy, we are going to ask you to remove it. All we are asking is that you make sure its safe, well attached, away from heat, and that it won't break or melt easily. A Rotax container (for this rally) would be considered safe as long as it correctly mounted and away from heat sources.

There will be places to buy fuel which you will probably pass by at least 1 or 2 times during phase #1, but if you need premium you will need to plan ahead. Some people might be able to travel 200 miles during phase #1. I'll tell everyone where a couple of the local gas stations are before the rally starts as some of them are not obvious if your not from the area.

I'll be arriving between 4 and 5pm, and am probably going to run down to Council Bluffs for a quick GT picture and something to grill once I unload the bike.

RE: DS ADV Rally
Hey all you Iowagians what is the best way to get down there? Is it better to come down 71 and then work my way down and over or just plug down the Interstate and do more miles. Motor home only rolls down the road between 60 and 65 so no gain by the higher speed on the Interstate.

RE: DS ADV Rally
I am 60 miles Southwest of the Twin Cities already.

Quickest on Streets and Trips is 169 to 60 to 29 to 80

Shortest is 60 to 71 to 39 to 80 ( I skipped a few but you get the idea.

RE: DS ADV Rally
169,60,29,80 even if the motor home is no interstate speedster you won't be stopping or slowing down for very many towns.

Well, I won't be making it, still to wet to get my spraying done, but I had forgotten we are helping our daughter move this weekend.

I do know who's going to be having the fun this weekend and it won't be me.
