The t-shirt order is in!! I ordered a few extras in each size to get a discount and for those procrastinators who still want to sign up. The t-shirt will have a GLMC logo on the front and a custom graphic which Alex Kerkow and I came up with on the back. Motorcycle and movie fans will both like it. Thanks Alex!!

You will need maps for Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Nebraska for sure. There will not be any specific bonuses in Missouri or Kansas, but they may be GT bonuses there if you want to go that far. We will be including some general and specific GT bonuses this year (these will be photo bonuses anyone can do, even if they are not signed up for the GT).

This is probably the first road rally in some time which can be "easily" ridden with nothing more then paper maps, riders may be more efficient without a GPS. I'll try to pick up some extra maps this week.

Most of the bonuses outside of the GT bonuses will not require a camera. You can use a cell phone as a camera (some of the coverage areas are spotty at best so be prepared to charge it).

I'll send out a pre-ride letter with details to all riders in a couple days.

I had a question about the GT bonuses and my comments about paper maps over GPSs. Here are my clarifications:

The GT bonuses are extras. They are worth 100 pts each. You can get as many as you want per state, but you can get only one of each general bonus in each state. We are not allowing the general "Something Cool or Important to the Rider" bonus - you can not use that one.

Most of the theaters are not in tiny towns and many are near major roads. My concern is that if you rely completely on a GPS, you will get routed down the interstates and 4-lane highways frequently. That will take you further out of your way and take longer, plus the ride on some of those back roads is stunning and fun. If you look at a paper map you will see county roads running between many of these bonuses. If you look at the Buffalo Run which Jim Johnson won a few years ago, some of his accomplishment can be credited to his knowledge of connecting county roads.

Question: Based on the scoring sheet, are we limited to 19 GT bonuses?

Answer:Theoretically there is no limit on the GT bonuses. You can put 20 - 40 on the backside of the page. That is not the scoring sheet. Its just for you to record your GT bonus stops. I'll have rider packets and scoring sheets for you Sunday morning.

"Question on the return early bonus...it appears to me 6:30 is the finish time and 6:45 your late."

If you return before 6:30 PM you can claim a 500 bonus points.

If you return before 6:45 PM you can claim a 500 bonus points.

If you return after 7:00 PM you are a DNF.

I wrote the rally finish time is 6:30 PM... technically that is incorrect - its actually 7:00 PM. We are trying to use bonus points to encourage some riders to get back by 6:30 so we can score them and give riders a little extra time if they really need it.
