2018 Grand Tour Suggestions

We are hoping to have the Grand Tour for 2018 theme picked by the banquet time this October.

I am opening this thread up for suggestions. We may or may not use your idea but will consider all ideas submitted.

Pre 1900 churches or Ice cream shops Both with state limits.

National, State or Regional Scenic Byways. We are a riding group, ride to visit scenic roads.

Many are listed here: https://scenicbyways.info/ but if there is a Scenic Byway sign it would count.

If the scenic road goes through multiple states you can get a point for each State. Example, Great River Road through MN, WI, IA, IL, MO, KY, TN, AR, MS and LA.

I also like throwing in a few general locations per state like we have the last few years too.

I do that for the KC BMW Club. I'm not sure this group would go along with my one rule. The Honor System. At the end of the challenge let me know your total. If you are willing to cheat or lie about your finds that is your problem not mine or the groups. I do urge riders to their pictures on the clubs web page so people can see what is going on but that is not a requirement.

It really has very little to do with cheating. It is just the rules and filling out the paper work and sending in the photos is part of doing the rally. Like riding 1000 miles in 24 hours. It is one thing to ride the 1000 miles but it is a Saddle Sore if you follow the rules and fill out the paper work.

War Memorial Tour:

French-Indian, US Revolution, Civil War, Indian Wars, Mexican-American War, Spanish American War, WW1, WW2, Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan War memorial sites. Include battlefields, museums, significant memorial sites (as in statues, walls, tombs, etc), and military grave yards. Locations in US, Mexico and Canada. We would probably need to work off lists for each state and province, so there may be some work involved, but there is plenty of information available. There are plenty of sites and wiki pages with lists. We could easily come up with 10-12 locations per state and then have a few good general locations (VFW halls, local veteran memorials, historical sites, etc). There are some seriously cool places we could use for this. Kind of a self-serving idea, but a lot of these places are still on my bucket list (i.e. the Eisenhower Museum in Kansas).

How about paired towns multipliers Call it the Multiplicity Tour

For instance Springfield is in MA PA NJ NH VT ME so points could be as follows

1 point for pair
6 points for a Triple 1+2+3
10 points for the Quad 1+2+3+4 = 10
15 points for the Penta 1+2+3+4+5 = 15
21 points for the Hex 1+2+3+4+5+6 =21

etc etc

Cool idea. Works way better in the NE than out here where states get bigger and farther apart. At the moment I'm living at the nexus point of 3 states but for anyone in the middle of Texas, for example, that becomes quite a big ride to get to another state.
