RE: 2019 Grand Tour
Do Town Limit signs meet your qualifications? Technically they are not "inside" the town and in the past have NOT counted.

RE: 2019 Grand Tour
Are the low wall with the name of a CDP on them good? For example a subdivision with a sign at the entry way for Spyglass Estates.
TIA,
JEF

RE: 2019 Grand Tour
As long as it's a populated place, like the ones compiled from the USGS database referenced in Starwolves post/thread or it is defined as a CDP (census designated place) and it has a sign with it's qualifying name that is at/within the border of the place, then I'm OK with it.

StarWolve,
Thanks for the great gift of finding so many locations, even if some may not be valid. You've put the focus back on riding during this event.

RE: 2019 Grand Tour
The rules say "Grand Tour Rider flags will be issued as electronic files, you can print them off to be displayed however you wish". March 1st was 17 days ago. Was the file sent out or did I miss something again ?

RE: 2019 Grand Tour
Do we need to send in a new signed waiver or is registration automatically cover that?

Yes, the link with the rider flags was sent out before March 1st.
I have sent you that link in a message.

You do not need to send anything in.
The waiver is agreed to by signing up.

IF you're at The World of Motorcycles Museum when its open, spend the couple of dollars and look around..it is well worth it.

Also, if they are open say HI to Jason and Katie!

RE: 2019 Grand Tour
Having been screwed by the new tax laws I had to sell my Concours 1000 this spring for some fast cash. It was too tall and heavy and after 3 years, I was planning on trading it in anyway. LOVED it on the highway and twisties, DESPISED it in parking lots/driveways especially if there was the slightest incline.

Farewell Big Bertha!

After a few weeks, I started seeking out a viable replacement but was having difficulty finding something in my criteria, all the while thinking I might not be able to finish this Grand Tour. The criteria I thought was simple but in todays Cruiser/Sportbike-centric era, it was quite tough. Footpegs/controls under me, not forward or behind. Bags available for daily shopping and commuting. Short enough and light enough that my short stature could handle moving it around without the CONSTANT fear of dropping it. Reasonably affordable.

Enter my new ride: 2016 Honda CB500X with ABS, EFI, hydraulic lifters, new tires, new brakes, Givi bags AND trunk. All for under $4k! Light as a feather (430 lbs) I can flick it around the twisties like I was on a bicycle! Short enough I almost flat-foot with my 30" inseam and I do flat-foot when my wife is on the back. Powerful enough I already had an involuntary wheelie. I absolutely LOVE it. I just need some better grips, throttle lock and maybe the optional larger touring windshield and it will be perfect!

Here's my arrival at home with it and my first point of the tour with it!

Can't wait to get riding to all my other points for this tour!

RE: 2019 Grand Tour
Does Argonne qualify? it is listed as:

Argonne (GNIS FID: 639433) a populated place LOCATED WITHIN the City of Lakeville. In turn, the City of Lakeville is located within Dakota County.

It is more than a neighborhood and feels similar to an unincorporated city.

In your helmet no one can hear you sing.
